The National Archives facility in Waltham, Mass., opened at 12:01 AM this morning, and shortly thereafter I was among the first in the nation to view the 1930 census. I looked at Camden, Brighton, Pittsfield, Henrietta, & Russia Twps., and Oberlin Village, plus a few EDs in Cleveland and Youngstown before I had to leave to go to work. I'm pleased to report that the quality of the microfilm is very high and virtually everything I looked at was quite legible. They apparently did use up all that disappearing ink in 1910! Now, I wonder where my father was in 1930, as he wasn't where he was supposed to be. :-( Bob Oliphant Westford, Mass.
