Ruth Ann: Write a letter including all information re the Henry of the 104th and a request for complete records...Take or mail it to "Privacy Desk", Veterens Benefits, Veterans' Affairs, and the address of your local VA office. Better still, if the office is nearby, take it to them and place it in their hands. If he collected benefits (ie pension, compensation for injury, medical services et al) they will be able to send you all --and I mean all-- info for no charge and much faster than the national archive. I requested information re someone I thought was my gr gr grandfather...turned out he wasn't..now I have a 3" think folder of this man's personal information...At the time I was trying to get the info, I had a friend in Washington DC go to the National Archive and search there. NARA didn't have records...Seems they were checkk out in 1933 (the year this veteran died) and had been missing ever since. Shirley in San Diego >>>I just got a brain storm. It is possible that the reason I can't find my Henry Koppelberger in the census of 1860 is that he is in the military. There is a Henry Koppelberger in the 104th Co. E. Can someone tell me how I can go about finding out more on who this Henry might be. Thanks Ruth Ann ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Shirley, 104 the infantry wasn't the only civil car unit from Ohio. I have a relative Moses Beal who was in the Ohio Volunteers Field Artillery. I don't remember the number I think it was the 24 th. My Grandfather told me he had a miniature cannon and would fire it every 4 th of July. ----- Original Message ----- From: Shirley J Hulett <marcompro@juno.com> To: <OHLORAIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 24, 2002 8:59 AM Subject: Re: [OHLORAIN] 104th Ohio > Ruth Ann: > Write a letter including all information re the > Henry of the 104th and a request for complete > records...Take or mail it to "Privacy Desk", > Veterens Benefits, Veterans' Affairs, and the > address of your local VA office.
