Sue, I have several pictures on this list, but the email address listed for me is outdated. How can I get this changed, since I no longer have the address listed? If you have digital images we would hope you would contribute them. Also, we have many pictures on our website as well. See Ancestral Images of Lorain County, Ohio /Pictures of the Lorain County area and it's people: images of obituaries, headstones, weddings, anniversaries etc. Send your own scanned images to share.* Sue -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [OHFAIRFI] I would like to call your attention to.... This site is a wonderful way to preserve the headstones of our ancestors. With the advent of time and weather and vandalism, our headstones are disappearing at an alarming rate. We need to work on preserving a digital image of our family stones as a fitting tribute to our ancestors. You can never have the names of those you are researching in too many places. The more exposure the more likely you are to find others researching the same line. They may have the answer to your brickwall. The site is relatively new and at the present time there are few pictures for Fairfield County posted. There are other sites online for tombstone pictures but none as easy to submit to as Ohiogravestones.org and there are NO flashing, popping or moving ads to have to contend with. You put the pictures on there yourself, you don't have to wait for others to do it for you. They should be up on the site and viewable within 24 hours. Additionally there is no cost to the contributor or those looking for tombstones of their ancestors, hard to find in this day and age where everything costs something. Particularly valuable are those very old headstone photos that you have in grandmas photo album. Scan them into your computer and add them to the site as they may be the only testament to your ancestors life. This would be a great place as backup storage in case of a computer crash or fire. I have everything saved on CDs but they are stored here at home. The address for the site is: Ohiogravestones.org If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Let's see if we can't make this a great source for Fairfield Co., Ohio researchers and a way to remember our ancestors. Thank you very much!
