    3. Curt, I have read in Williams Bros. 1879 History of Lorain County, page 155, column 2, that at the time of its organization, Columbia Twp was part of Geauga County, then in 1818 it became part of Cuyahoga Co., in 1824 it became permanently attached to Lorain Co. I have thought that Copapa was just the name of a settlement within the Township itself. The Copapa post office on the 1857 map, lot 35, right near Columbia Centre which was in the center part of Columbia Twp. Columbia Station, another community in the northwest part of the twp and was located on lots 83 & 84, near the RR and the present day Root Rd. That Copapa P.O. was in use from 1824 til 1904 when the mail servicing was relocated to Columbia Station P.O. Never knew when the Copapa school was built at the Centre. Love learning about LC history & would like to read more about the name of Copapa. Can you please direct me to that source of information? Nancy M. Meyers, Lorain OH
