Interesting, Jane. This does help. So James Marsh, b. in England 9 Oct 1858, son of John and Louisa (Sutton) Marsh who d. 30 March 1883 (buried with Marsh family in Butternut Ridge) left a son, Charles B. Marsh, b. 1880 (gravestone) or 1881 (census). Charles' mother was Ann Alice Grills... but who was "Henry," listed as their six-year old son in the 1880 census? And Ann bore him at age 14? Henry is listed on the census as b. in Ohio. Charles was living on North Island Road in North Eaton, OH with his paternal uncle, William Grills and his grandmother, Alice (Gist) Grills in 1900 (census). He was mentioned in his Aunt Ellen's will as residing in Columbia Station, OH in 1924. That is all I know, so far, although it is good to know who his mother was. I wish I understood why the Marsh family disconnected from James' family after his death. I'll let you know if I learn anything else about Charles Marsh; thanks for the information. There is further information about Annie Grills (Marsh) (Grills') children with whom she was residing in 1930 in the census; they were Harley, Harvey and Warren. Do you have access to that information? If not I am happy to transcribe it for you.
