Fellow Researchers, Beware, even on documents, things are not always what they appear to be. While going thru family papers of my late sister-in-law, I came across a beautifully embossed marriage certificate dated July 30, 1949. The certificate was from a Catholic church in Lakewood OH. Of course, it contained the names of the bride, groom, witnesses, priest, the church and the date. All were carefully written in beautiful penmanship. The best man was listed as Patrick Kopchik (brother of groom) and the maid of honor as Katherine S........ (brides best friend & still living). Alas it was not so. The bride & groom and a bridesmaid confirmed to us a few years ago, that someone in the church office had filled out the certificate before marriage actually took place. The facts were: Patrick was not even in the same state the day of the wedding. He was still on one of his infamous "toots" and the maid of honor had been married herself a few days earlier and had a new last name. The certificate was never corrected. ===== Nancy M.
