Hello-- I have been reading some on your James PIERCE emails. My Pierce family was in Huntington twp by 1833-36 and left about 1855-60 for Clinton Co., MI. One son, my gg.grandfather Wareham Pierce, then went on to MN. I have been up against a brick wall for 10 years trying to find Wareham Pierce's father's history--his name was Reuben Pierce--so I know how frustrating things can be. I believe Reuben may have had a brother/s, Charles and/or Frances, that also moved to Lorain Co. at some point, but I have not been able to come up with information on either name! I have all of Reuben's children/grandchildren so know you are not related in my particular family. If you should ever manage to get back farther and end up with any VT connections [he was m. there and verbal history says he was b. there] I'd sure like to hear from you! There is one other Pierce family that I am aware of who were prominent in Lorain Co. but I have not been able to connect them to my Pierce's. I believe they are written up in one of the History books of Lorain Co. and if you go to the Lorain Co. web page you may find very kind, helpful "Look-up" Volunteers to check a name or two out for you if you haven't tried that route already. I know there are lots of old newspapers in Lorain County on microfilm but I believe they are not name indexed. I have gotten So Much information from newspapers so maybe, since you have birth, marriage, and death dates you [or a paid researcher or a volunteer] could look for articles. Another set of my GG.Grandparents [in 1893 IA] had each guest listed along with each gift in their wedding article and they were just poor farmers, not the elite in town...we figured out several "new" relatives just from that one article! Plus, in IL I found little death and birth notices that were just 1 or 2 sentences, but birth info would Always include the name of the parent. Don't give up and Good Hunting...I have decided the Pierce family is the most elusive one I could have ever been lucky enough to descend from! Jo Ellen in MI
