    3. This is from the ROOTSWEB list in case you are not a subscriber: I happen to admire this CGRS, he has been very helpful, even to those of us in OH. Davidson" <floridasearch@yahoo.com> Subject: CA & TX Vital Records Removals Dear Readers, I have been made aware that ROOTSWEB has removed access to the TX and CA Birth Indexes as well as some other databases which concern some so-called privacy issues. The main sticking point is that they have had their legal arm twisted by some of the do-gooders on the CA legislature and now we, the genealogists, have to take the brunt of their action. I say we ought to bombard the legislators Email box with protests about this matter and voice our opinion to ROOTSWEB about bowing to pressure from someone who never uses their services. If criminals use this information to create false ID's, then why don't they pass laws to punish those criminals and not punish the genealogists. A criminal does not need these databases to create false ID's and break the laws of our land. They simply need other criminals to make false drivers licenses, passports, etc. Now is the time for genealogists to rise up and protest to the CA and TX legislators. I copied the TX vital records database onto CD several months ago, so they will have to pry those CD's from my cold dead fingers to get them back. Three cheers for fore-thoughts... Alvie L.
