Just a hunch on my part. I have been at a dead end on my Stephen Gunn, who married Magaret Shupe in 1823 in Lorain County (marriage recorded in Huron County). I notice, as a middle name, the named Belle shows up twice in later generations. Since I have plenty of information now on the other branches, I wonder were Belle came from. Does anyone know of any Belle families in Lorain County, dating back to the early 1800s? It could be, and this is a pure guess, that Belle may be the maiden name of Stephen Gunn's mother. Stephen had a grandson named Ellis Belle Gunn (born 1874) and a great grand daughter named Iva Belle Gunn (born 1900). Bob Nordstrand (BobNMi@aol.com)
