    1. [OHLORAIN] Harry Painter of North Ridgeville

    3. Nancy Meyers (and other Chapter members): Karen and I just heard that Harry R. Painter of North Ridgeville died (this morning, I believe) at age 90. Harry and his wife Dorothy were longtime members, in fact Lifetime Members, of the LCHS Genealogical Workshop of Elyria (now disbanded & merged into the LCCOGS), the Lorain County Historical Society (where Harry put in many volunteer hours on various building & repair projects), and our Lorain County Chapter, OGS; and they were the founders of the North Ridgeville Historical Society -- setting up and moving the museum there into four different buildings over the last 25 years; and assisting in the early stages of restoration of the Jaycox Road one-room school. In about 1980, the Lorain Co. Historical Society established an award for members' volunteerism, naming it the "Harry Painter Award." Harry was past president and treasurer of the Genealogical Workshop, and longtime treasurer of the NRHS; he and Dorothy were also very active members & officers of the Lorain County Beekeepers for many years. Harry will be greatly missed; our condolences go to Dorothy and their children. Jeff S., Elyria President, N.R. Historical Society Trustee, Lorain County Historical Society Editor, Lorain County RESEARCHER (LCCOGS)
