    1. Re: [OHLORAIN] Gore Orphanage (DANEY/HACKETT)
    2. LAURA HELLAND
    3. Hi, I just typed a whole long email and something happened. It just went away. Well, I will try again. My Anna Hackett was of an age to be a sister to your Mary hackett Daney. She was living with the Tite family in 1880, as a house keeper. Additionally, she is listed as a daugther to by gg granny in her obit, but Mary would have passed by then. I know for a fact that this family is related to me because my grannny called them her family and my mom visited them in the 1940s in Lorain county. I have traced Anna's two daughters, Florence who married an Esch, and Lenora, who married a Shaw. Now, two Daney nieces lived with Josephine Hackett Clayton in 1900, and 1910, respectively. My mom also knew aunt Jo. I found another Hackett family, that the father would be of an age to be brother to my Joseph Owen Hackett. There was at least one son, and three daughters that probably stayed single. Florence Tite Esch is listed as a relative in their obits. Have you been to castlegarden.org That is a good site. More Later. Laura bisforbooks <[email protected]> wrote: Hi again, From passenger lists, I found an Anna Hackett coming to US in 1866 with her daughter Mary, who was 6 yo. I THINK this is my Mary Hackett. They were traveling alone. The age is right. The name Chuck Tite is v-e-r-y familiar. But my aunt that I remember talking about him can no longer remember what she just had to eat let alone anything else. I'm guessing it was a son of the Charles Tite you mentioned. I found a Josephine Clayton in Elyria living with another family. When I get the notes I'll email you with them. I'm pretty sure it was 1890 census. It was a family I expected to find Daney's or Hacketts with but Josephine Clayton was a bit of a surprise. Could Samuel Clayton's MOTHER be Josephine also? I've got to get back to work. ttyl LAURA HELLAND wrote: Hi, My granny was Frances hackett. Her dad was Thomas Hackett, sister to Josephine Hackett Clayton. An interesting find: In the 1900 census, I found a Hanley family that one of the Daneys is listed with. My library has Heritage Quest on line, and the 1900 is indexed. So, I searched for Daney, as I have never been able to find the Claytons listed. Well... the Claytons were listed under the surname Hanley, which was in reality, Bessie (Josephine's widowed sister who was living with them) last name. A quick rundown Joseph Owen Hackett and Mary Mckenna, born about 1840 in Ireland, came to RI in 1860, then on to Ohio. Kids: John, born in Ireland 1860, Frank, born about 1862, RI, Bridget, 1864, Maggie, 1865, Thomas, 1869, Josephine, 1874 (this is from memory). Anna, who married Charles Tite and Mary who married Jacob Daney. The problem I have had with Anna and Mary is that I have never found them on the census with the family. Keep in touch. laura bisforbooks wrote: Hi Laura, It's wonderful to hear from you. I was going over our emails from 1999-2000. I remember your granny's aunt is Josephine Clayton, who is your granny? If your granny's aunt and my grandpa's aunt were both Josephine Clayton, and she was a sister of Mary Hackett Daney. Who were your granny's siblings? parents? Are they one and the same as mine? or was your granny's mother one of Mary Hackett's siblings child? Curious minds want to know ;+ ) I'm glad you're still active in the geneology mailing list. Since my husband died my life has had so many twists and turns I really wasn't able to keep up. I'm trying to cut back at work to four days just so I can spend more time on this project. I also found a buddy in my son's mother in law. She gave me access to Ancestry.com from her home. I had gone to LDS once (it's right down the street from me), but they seem to want to get things resolved even if the match might not be right. I did appreciate the access they have to all the databases though. This is such a fascinating endeavor, I hope to spend as much time as possible on it now. Don't get lost! I miss our emails exchanging info. Take care Roberta Chapin [email protected] LAURA HELLAND wrote: Hi Roberta I believe we have corresponded in the past. I have both Hacketts and Daneys in my line, have found a census with the Daney children listed in an orphanage and have found them listed as living with my granny's Aunt from the Hackett side. Email me and we can talk some mor. Laura [email protected] bisforbooks wrote: Hello everyone, I just subscribed to this list. I was advised by other geneological buffs that the people on this list know a great deal. My maternal great-grandmother died in Carlisle Twp. in 1899. There were a number of children. I have not located all of them and would like some information on Gore Orphanage. Does anyone know if it was in existience in 1899-1900? Would there be any records salvaged from there? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
