WHITNEY, was born in Peru, Vermont, September, 13, 1829, and with his father's family moved to Pittsfield, Lorain county, Ohio, in 1836, which place was his home until he came to Harper county, Kansas in the fall of 1886. He was married February 28, 1865 to Mrs. Delia Kelly ROUNDS of Pittsfield, Ohio. Mr. WHITNEY leaves a widow, three sons, one daughter and five brothers and a wide circle of friends to mourn his sudden death. He died at the family residence December 12, 1896, aged 67 years, 2 months and 20 days. An exemplary citizen always, he was admired and respected by all who knew him. His death is a severe blow to the family, especialy to the afflicted widow who is in very poor health. The many friends of the family in Harper county are sincere sympathizers with them in their deep grief.
