I found a BUCK family in Cortlandville NY in the 1850 census that I cannot place. Philander or Gilbert Philander are names that have turned up in the descendants of Ebenezer Buck and Thankful BALDWIN of New Milford, CT., so I would not be surprised if this Philander BUCK is from the same CT line of Bucks. Some of their descendants ended up in Camillus, Onondaga, NY and some went on to Lorain Co. Ohio. Researching the 1850 census for Central NY Bucks I found the following on the family of Philander BUCK who was a physician in Cortlandville, Cortland County, NY. Since he was a physician, I wonder if anyone did a write-up inany of the biographical books that were common around 1890 to 1900.
