I have been researching some ancestors who came to the U.S. from England in 1883. Some years ago, an elderly family member told me we had a family relation to a family named Shepherd, who lived in Lagrange. These persons are also buried in the Lagrange cemetery. They are: Charles M. Shepherd 1856 - 1922 Eliza M. Shepherd 1872 - 1902 I have never been able to substantiate a relationship. However, recently I viewed the 1910 census for this family, and several interesting facts came to light. My gg grandmother, who was married three times, married her last husband, Charles Campin, in England in 1881, and they along with two of his sons from a previous marriage, immigrated to the U.S. in 1883. My gg grandmother's given name was Eliza. One of her husbands was named Samuel Slade, and the last husband was Charles Campin --- the name of the third husband is currently unknown. I now am curious if Eliza Shepherd was the daughter of Eliza Campin. The 1910 census indicates that she was born in England in 1872, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1883 --- the same year my ancestors immigrated. Is it possible that Eliza Campin's daughter Eliza also immigrated with the family in 1883? The facts are at least a coincidence --- and would explain the "family relationship". On the 1910 census, Charles and Eliza Shepherd indicated that they had been married 11 years, which would put the marriage date about 1898 or 1899. Does anyone out there have information that includes Eliza Shepherd's maiden name? Perhaps someone with a subscription to Ancestry.com Historical Newspaper collection, would do me the favor of a search for a marriage notice of Charles and Eliza Shepherd. Perhaps a marriage notice would give her maiden name. Since she died in 1902, perhaps there is even an obituary for her in the Historical Newspapers. If someone would do a search for me, I would really appreciate it! A lookup may save me a trip to the Probate Court records in Elyria. Thanks in advance for any help with this quest. Richard
