Fellow Researchers, If you need info on a specific death that occurred in the City of Elyria or at the Lorain County Infirmary (Carlisle Twp) between 1908-1956, please email privately. The OLD LADIES HOME located at W.Second & West Ave. in Elyria opened about January 1,1902. It was a handsome three-story home. See photo on page 13 of PICTURESQUE ELYRIA, 1903. This was not a home for indigent people as the Lorain Co. Infirmary was. I do have a list of twenty-six ladies who died at the Old Ladies Home but are buried in various cemeteries within the county and several out of the county. This particular list covers deaths ranging from the year 1911 thru 1930, and their ages at the time of death, were from 72 years to 93 years. So if you are missing a little old lady in this time frame mailto:[email protected] Nancy Meyers
I am wondering if anyone who still has access to the Ancestry historical newspapers would mind looking for a write up for me. I am trying to find something about 2 brothers in our family and their friend who were all struck by lightning in a barn during a major storm and killed. The date I have that it was supposed to have occurred is Sep 4 1880. Their farm was where the sanitarium later was, I believe at the corner of Rt. 113 and Rt. 58 in Amherst. The two young mens' names were George Henry Dellefield (age 23) and Karl Anton Dellefield (age 20). I don't know who the other person who died was, but I would be curious to know that also. Thanks! Deb B.
Correction... I take that back -- I believe it was Pleasantview Sanitorium at the corner of N. Ridge & Rt. 58. ----- Original Message ----- From: "NatureGem" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 20, 2005 12:29 AM Subject: [OHLORAIN] Historical Newspaper Index Lookup Request > I am wondering if anyone who still has access to the Ancestry historical > newspapers would mind looking for a write up for me.
