Quarries of LC seems to have generates a lot of interest. A Mr. Brown of the Cleveland Metro Parks system, is the scheduled speaker for Quarries program at the February 27, 2002 meeting of the Amherst Historical Society. Hopefully Paul J., our own LC quarry researcher will be able to join us. He originally started his quarry research project in the mid to late 80's. Meeting time is 7:30 and monthly meetings are held in the old Grange Hall of Amherst. It is located at the northwest corner of Milan Ave. & N. Lake. Just go west on Milan Avenue out of downtown Amherst. Actually it is two doors west of the intersection. When looking at a current county map, you will see that Milan Avenue is the dividing line between N.Lake & S.Lake Avenue. On the southwest corner of Milan & Lake, is the Quigley House, the museum for the AHS. The office for AHS is yet at a 3rd location on Jefferson & that office will be moving soon. -- Nancy M.
