    3. Paul, The libraries here as well as in Utah where you live, have marriage applications on microfilm only up thru 1901. Other than that , a person has to go to the courthouse or get real lucky and have a courthouse clerk look it up for you. Hopefully someone on this list will connect with you. If your ancestors lived in the Avon area, perhaps Skip at ivanskipjohn@juno.com may have come across some of the information you need. He was inducted last November into the 1st Families of LC thru his JOHNSON line of Avon. Be patient as it is a very busy time of year for him, as he trains & oversees AARP tax preparers. Back in 1987, a Paul M. JOHNSTON 1V was inducted into 1st Families of LC thru his Paul M. JOHNSTON line. That LC pioneer was living in Grafton Twp.by 1850. Since you do have the marriage date, then please consider that there just might be a little marriage announcement in the local weekly newspaper column for Avon. It may tell just exactly where they married. Hence go to the microfilmed newspapers for that time frame. If the FHC in SLC does not have any filmed newspapers for that time frame, then let me know privately. As I recall, I owe you a favor. BTW, visited http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohlorain/pictures/index.htm & enjoyed looking at the photo of Berniece/Bernice's birthplace and her 1913 Avon school picture. Nancy M. Meyers, Lorain OH

    3. Hi Nancy, thanx for the insight. I do know that my that my grandfather's dad changed his name from Jorgansen to Johnson when he arrived in Cleveland in about 1890, so I'm pretty sure we are not related to any Johnsons back there. I'll check the newspaper films at SLC and see if there are any notices. Otherwise I'll wait and check with Skip in May or June when his life settles down. I did check the films a SLC, but there was a gap in the years I need to check. The 1913 photo was a surprise to find last month. It amazing how much Bernice resembles her mother and my sister. And my dad says he sort of remembers the names on that photo. Is there a way to update my old email address at that site? Thanks again, Paul NM Meyers wrote: > Paul, > The libraries here as well as in Utah where you live, have marriage > applications on microfilm only up thru 1901.
