    1. [OHLORAIN] Query
    2. I am searching for an obituary or newspaper article for Stella (Kelly) WORCESTER. I have tried the Lorain County Probate records, Cuyahoga County Historical Society, Elyria and Lorain Health Dept., but they do not have any records about Stella WORCESTER's death. Stella Kelly was born about 1884 in Union City, Erie Co., PA, the daughter of Darius Kelly and Sarah Herdson or Hudson. PA does not have birth records for her as I checked. Stella Kelly married Lawrence Adelbert WORCESTER, my grandfather, on 20 Dec 1904 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County. Lawrence A. Worcester resided at 135 Chestnut St. at the time of their marriage. Between Dec 1904 and Nov 1909 Stella WORCESTER supposedly committed suicide in Elyria. Hopefully if I find the obituary or newspaper article about her death I can locate where she is buried. Thank you in advance for any help. Linda at _rogerlindaohfl@aol.com_ (mailto:rogerlindaohfl@aol.com)

    3. Hi Ken. My GrGm lived to be about 87. She went back and forth between Chicago relatives and Carlisle relatives for 3 Census. Check other households in surrounding area as well as out of state. 2. Good morning Ken, My Dad's mom lived into her 50's but her "baby" sister lived into her 90's and buried 4 husbands. She lived in Arizona for years then at 92 came back to the area (born in Elyria) but her son was in Columbus so she was in a nursing home down there when she died at 95 or 97. Try expanding to other townships were her children may have moved to see if she was with one of them when she died. Alice

    3. Ken, I found bunches of BEAL family members buried in North Murray Ridge Cemetery, including Phillip Beal and his wife. However, I didn't see anyone who matched the info that you gave. I would suspect that she is an older relative of some sort, hard to tell when the 1850 doesn't give relationships. Its doubtful if she's 80 in 1850 (b. ca 1770) that she would be around in 1900. Maybe she was living with one of the other relatives in prior census, although the prior census wouldn't give names or relationships either. Good luck. 3. Donna, Was your father related to Milton & Doyle on their father's side of the family? My father, George was the youngest of 10. He did not marry my mother until he was 33 and I wasn't born until he was 40. I was born in March and he turned 41 in July. I am the youngest of all the grandchildren. Yes, Violet is still living in Lorain as far as I know. I did see her at Doyle's funeral service. 3. Just my two cents worth. Don't have a clue about what went on in Germany. All of my German antecedents who lived in Pennsylvania went by their middle names. Drove me nuts trying to find them at first. Finally decided they had trouble remembering more than one name and my research got a whole lot easier.

    3. My husband Mark's family came from Mecklenburg and his German ancestors had as many as three names, and would often pick one of the three as the name they used. And yes, in the German church records that I have it shows ALL THREE NAMES. My husband's third, fourth and fifth great grandfathers all had three names. Freidrich Ludwig Heinrich Krugmann, Johann Karl Heinrich Krugmann and Johann Joachim Karl Krugmann. Respectively they were known as Fred, John and Karl. His Krugman line was not the only German line I found that did that. They were Evangelical Lutheran. Frederick was the last using that custom and he was born in Nov 1843. He migrated to the US in 1872. After years of researching my husbands family, who still lives in Germany, I have never found this to be true. Perhaps it is a regional practice and is the case in certain areas of Germany. My husbands family are from Berlin on the maternal side and Bremen, and Oldenberg, which is Northern Germany. Perhaps Southern Germany uses this practice, I dont know as I havent come across it yet. The Germans are very good at record keeping and recently Ancestry.com has staretd to list German databases. Not trying to be argumentative ,just mentioning my own experience. I have German some genealogy on my webpages if you like to veiw it http://360.yahoo.com/my_profile-3aZNZP48fqM3elMBsqiyi2PxqPXTUe2OLf7ABjw-?cq=1 Some of the names I am researching are Meentzen, Wulfing, Von der Heydt, Topken, Grote, Schleiper Randi ohlorain-request@rootsweb.com wrote: Today's Topics: 1. For example: a baby boy is born to a family, and they christen him as : Heinrich George . He will be called at home and at school and later in adult life always as "George". This makes for confusion when after 100-200 years a genealogist like us goes to look for records and census records, and finds him legally listed as HENRY, or HEINRICH. It would make you want to believe you were finding the wrong man, when in reality he used his middle name as the calling name, and he used his TRUE first name when asked for it in LEGAL matters such as deeds, court records, and census records. This rule holds true for LADIES as well. Margaret Elizabeth is always called Elizabeth or Lizzie or Libby. Well, where did the Margaret go? They just did not use it, except on her marriage certificate, or other such legal papers. I am not sure WHY Germans do this, but I have found some Catholic people do this as well, for example some German Catholics, and some Irish Catholics. Maybe this tradition, or habit started off in Europe before the Reformation (Protestant religions) and it just stuck in certain areas.
