    3. Nancy, I have received the death certificate for Minnie Moore and she died in the city of Lorain on 14 July 1946. She was the daughter of James Monroe Conklin and Susan Sarah White. Her Elyria address was that of her son, Leonard. Her grandson, Leonard Jr., was one of the men killed in the fire on the Roger Blough. 3. I'm not going into town today or I could get the Index Card from Ancestry and email it to. I've added a few of the images for my ancestors into my Family Tree maker database. If you haven't gotten someone to send it to you by this weekend I will give it for you. I am pretty sure someone will be able to help you by then anyways. This list is pretty helpful. 2. Hello Julian, I asked a Jewish friend and she said she's been to the Temple several times but doesn't have a picture of it. She suggested you call the Rabbi who probably has one or can take one. I found the phone number and address by going to yellowbook.com and putting in Synagogues, Elyria, OH Here's the copy and paste info: A._Temple B'Nai Abraham_ (http://www.yellowbook.com/Listings/Listing/35360910/?T=1&Q=synagogues&BQT=3&WH=Elyria,+OH&CT=3&CS=2&AN=0) 440-366-1171 530 Gulf Elyria OH 44035 More Results For: _Synagogues_ (http://www.yellowbook.com/?A=1&Q=synagogues categories:+synagogues&WH=Elyria,+OH) _More Info_ (http://www.yellowbook.com/Listings/Listing/35360910/?T=1&Q=synagogues&BQT=3&WH=Elyria,+OH&CT=3&AN=0) _Directions_ (http://www.yellowbook.com/?T=1&A=1&BQT=3&Q=Synagogues&WH=Elyria,+OH&x=34&y=13#) I hope this helps...Temple B'Nai Abraham was the first listing -- so it is letter A on the map I tried pasting the map here, but it wiped out the rest of my email -- I will paste it to a new "write" and send alone. 3. Cindy, Ancestry shows a WW II Army Enlistment Record for William H. Smith in Lorain Co. If you can review that, you might get more information. 3. Hello: I am researching American Synagogue Architecture and am hoping to locate someone who might be able to take a color photograph of the exterior of Temple B'nai Abraham in Elyria located at 530 Gulf Road. I will be creating an e-Book with hundreds of color photographs of Jewish temples and synagogues from around the USA and hope to be able to include the synagogue from Elyria, Ohio. Credit, will of course, be given to the photographer. The photographs can be digital or regular print. I am most interested in getting 1 or 2 good photos of the building. 1. [OHLORAIN] Ric Sheffield: "The Community Within"
    2. Phyllis Yarber Hogan
    3. The Oberlin African-American Genealogy & History Group will sponsor a public lecture by Ric S. Sheffield on Saturday, April 7, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at the historic Oberlin Railroad Depot, 240 South Main Street, Oberlin. Mr. Sheffield will speak on “The Community Within: Discovering African-American History in Rural Ohio.” Many rural areas in Ohio have long established black communities that are often invisible to the larger white communities in which they reside. This program relates the adventure of reclaiming the lost history of African-Americans in Knox County, Ohio and explains the benefits of including minority populations within celebrations of heritage. Mr. Sheffield is Associate Professor of Legal Studies and Sociology at Kenyon College and Director of the Law and Society Program. His research has focused on the relationship between the law and issues of gender, race and ethnicity. He has lectured widely on issues of race and the law, as well as African Americans in rural Ohio. The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Funding for this program was made possible by the Ohio Humanities Council, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Phyllis Yarber Hogan

    3. Hi, Cheryl, I've been trying to locate some information about my ancestor Archibald Mattison/Matteson who supposedly died while living with his wife Lovice (Louisa) and daughter Julia on the farm of their son Aaron Mattison in Brownhelm, Lorain Co., Ohio. I keep finding the date "June 30, 1864" online for his death date, but no one has said where that date came from. There is no obituary, and the only things that might fit in with that date, are the fact that son Aaron sold his Brownhelm farmland within the next couple of years, moving his own family to Eaton County, Michigan. In 1870, Lovice and daughter Julia appeared in Medina Twp, Medina Co., Ohio, living with the family of another son, also named Archibald. Lovice died in 1872 and the brief obit in the Medina newspaper (I assume) merely tells that she had been living with her son Archibald's family, and giving her precise age. There is no mention of her burial. Getting to the subject of my letter (based on your mention of "old case" replying to a recent Zych query), I have a question. On the Lorain Co. Probate website I find: Decedent: MATTISON, A L Judge: OLD CASE HISTORY Case Number: ES5678 Action Code: HISTORY OF CASE Docket: View Full Docket ======================================= There is no docket information available for this case. ============================================================= Since it says there is no docket information available for Old Case Number ES5678 for Mattison A L , does that mean that there are no records at all? I don't know what the second initial (?) L stands for as I never knew of Archibald having a middle name, but the lack of periods after the intials made me wonder if it stands for both Archibald and his wife Lovice. I don't see any way to contact the Probate Dept. by email. How do you suggest I proceed? Thanks for any help you can provide. Ann in Iowa

Ohio died at home on 3 Jun 2001 in Lorain, Lorain Co. Ohio. It notes that she was a widow at the time of her death and that her father's surname was Allison and her mother's maiden name was Pfeiffer. The Ancestry newspaper archive for some reason does not have the Chronicle newspapers after 1992 - 2001 available anymore. 1. Re: [OHLORAIN] Lookup 1910 census, William L. Smith, b.1889
    2. I can look. Do you think he is in the LORAIN OH census in 1910. I notice he is from Mississippi. -----Original Message----- From: wolfman@blomand.net To: ohlorain@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, 24 Feb 2007 1:18 PM Subject: [OHLORAIN] Lookup 1910 census, William L. Smith, b.1889 Could someone please do a lookup to see if William Louis Smith, born 1889 (so age on census would be given probably as "19", or "20") is on the 1910 census? He was born August 17, 1889, and 1920 Washington Co. MS census states his father was born "Germany" mother possibly born "England"..He spoke fluent German, and in 1917 through 1920 was a flagman with the Southern (Greenville-Columbus MS) Railroad, living in Columbus, MS in 1917 and in Greenville, MS in 1920. HOPEFULLY, he was on the 1910 census for Lorain County...He was still listed as "single" in 1917 and in 1920 also.. Thanks!
