Fellow genealogists and anyone concerned with preserving our sacred cemeteries, Time Warner and The History Channel are sponsoring a 'Save Our History' grant award for which people can go online and cast their vote. Voting ends on April 27th, so time is short. Our Jackson Ohio cemetery restoration project was the only genealogy group or cemetery project to be chosen as one of the five finalists, so I truly hope that you will go to the Time Warner website and cast your vote for the James Cemetery project. If awarded this grant, we will use 100% of the grant to begin installing an antique-style aluminum alloy fence around the perimeter in order to help halt further desecration of this sacred and historic burial ground. You can read more about our James Cemetery project at the Time Warner 'Save Our History' voting website. Please unite with us as a group of people concerned about the ever-increasing destruction of our cemeteries by VOTING for us at the website below. And note also that ANYONE in Ohio with Internet access can VOTE!! www.aroundrr.com/SaveOurHistory Anthony Coyan

I can not answer your question as to Beldon Township. I never heard of one. However, the intersection of state route 303 and state route 76 (I believe it is now 83) in the center of Grafton Township in Lorain County was called Beldon. In the late 40's there was a Beldon High School there. I hope this gives you a lead at least. Can anyone tell me what county Beldon township was in, in 1900? Also does anyone know if there was a "Children's Home" " Industrial school" etc. in Lorain county by the name of Mariette Shepherds. Forwarded from another e-mail list: After many years, GENEALOGY SERVICES AT THE STATE LIBRARY OF OHIO ARE ENDING COMPLETELY as of April 19, 2007. The entire genealogy collection is being moved to the main location of the Columbus Metropolitan Library at 96 S. Grant Ave. on the east side of downtown Columbus (near Grant Hospital). The collection will be available for use there BEGINNING APRIL 25. They will provide in-the-library access to the same online genealogy services. Some advantages of the new location are: Extended Hours -- the new location is a public library that includes evening and weekend hours; Larger Staff -- the new location has over three times the number of staff working in the Genealogy area; a Larger Budget to add material to the collection. One would not have to be of Irish descent to have children born in the same calendar year or otherwise less than 12 months apart. I'm sorry, I should have said the ORIGIN of the word is a slur. It is a stereotypical phrase coined in the 1900's aimed at that ethnicity. There are three reason cited for the definition, each of which there is no reason to list here. My brother and I are less than a year apart. We explain, if needed, it as being born less than a year apart. Sorry for the confusion. Fellow Researchers, There is a term ... "Irish Twins". I recently debated with someone who claimed that the definition required that both be not within the 12 months, but within the same calendar year. Has that term been used in your family history? In which context was it used? BTW, I have 2 sets of Irish Twins, each set born within the same calendar years, 1954 & 1969. Nancy

Diane, I think that it refers to "old birth record." Not sure, but I think so. I am working without any records or notes, since my computer crashed almost a month ago. Original Birth Registration (OBR): A certificate of live birth usually completed by a birth mother at the time of her child's birth. It also documents any changes made to the child's name. Does anyone know what OBR would refer to in the Lorain County Probate Records? It is in the same column as Marriage License and Estate as the description for the type of record available. Thank you, Diane
