You'll need to do a search using at least the last name. You may need to do it with several separate spellings, as I had to with DALY LEY, AILEY, etc. The date does not appear, it is true, but births will be indicated with OBR, then you just copy down OBR and the record numbrer next to it. For example, OBR175, will indicate enough information for the record to be found. It helps if you know the year. In general, the lower the number after the alpha indicator, the older the record. ML means marriage license. You said "around Lorain county". Lorain, Lorain, Oh has its own birth and death records after 1908. So it would be better, if you could specify the city within Lorain County. One of the ladies there had a "Where Oh Where in Ohio" book. It was put together for post card collectors to identify small Ohio towns pictured and named on early post cards. The list of towns and cities were taken from a 1897 County Atlas. I have found it to be VERY helpful in genealogy as well. It has a listing for a town called Jobs in Hocking County. It does not pin point it, it mearley tells the town and the county where it is located. Hope I could be of some help. If you really mean St.Peter's United Church of Christ which was originally known as German United Evangelical St. Peter's Church of North Amherst-Lorain County, I am a member of that church and would be willing to see if I can search the records for you. Some of the early records are missing. The church was founded in 1857, we are celebrating our 150th year. The first building was dedicated on Oct. 13, 1857. If you would want to email me off the list and give me some names and dates I could try to do some research for you. I was able to find the record of my great-grandmother's death. She died in 1885. Of course, the early records are in German and difficult to read. But, perhaps I could copy the page and then scan them in my computer and send them. There is a picture of Frederick Onstine hanging in the Amherst Historical Society. I am wondering if someone who might be going there one of these days would be able to tell me what it says at the bottom of the picture. Sometime ago I got a picture but can see writing at the bottom but don't know what it says. Thanks so much.
