Thanks for the clues - just hadn't gotten quite that far yet with them. It definitely puts a CHESTER/PERRIN link there! Will keep looking. Margaret
Hi Margaret... The 1900 Census for Avon Township lists Reuben CHESTER, head of house, age 76, widower, born England Sept 1823, immigrated to US in 1833. Also listed are children Job, Minnie, Agnes J. and Albert. A quick look at the LDS FamilySearch website http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp reveals a Reuben CHESTER, christened 19 Oct 1823 in Naseby, Northampton, England... son of William CHESTER and Amelia. A further search reveals a marriage of William CHESTER and Amelia PERRIN on 23 Sept 1811 in Naseby. We hadn't gone this far, as these people are not our direct line... but from this info, it appears to be the connection you're looking for. bye now, Janice & Pete ----- Original Message ----- From: <Margral5@aol.com> To: <OHLORAIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 15, 2001 11:12 PM Subject: [OHLORAIN] Re: Chester Surname > Janice, > Do you know who the parents of your Reuben Chester are? > > Margaret > > > ==== OHLORAIN Mailing List ==== > Search the Archive of Messages for OHLORAIN Mailing List > http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl > >

Janice, Do you know who the parents of your Reuben Chester are? Margaret
Nancy, We have a Charles A. KNIGHT, born England 25 Dec 1851, died Avon 11 Jan 1923, married 25 Dec 1878 in Avon to Elizabeth (Lizzie) NEWMAN. Lizzie's sister Lydia NEWMAN was my gr-grandmother. It could well be that Charles is a brother to your George... but we have no information on Charles' parents. Charles & Lizzie had 4 children: Edith Belle, who married Albert CHESTER; Clifton George; Charles Louis, who married Eva FRANTZ; and Roy N. We are in contact with a grand-daughter of Edith KNIGHT and Albert CHESTER, who is not (yet) into genealogy... but she didn't have names of the parents of Charles KNIGHT. I'll mention the names of your KNIGHTs... perhaps she'll remember them as cousins from years ago. Hello All, I'm new to this board and I'm currently researching the FLOWERS & CULP surnames. The main locations are: ELYRIA, Lorain County and BROOKFIELD, VERNON, WARREN in Trumbull County. Common female names are EMMA, MINNIE, ANNA, and CARRIE. Unusual male names are: WIRT P., HALBERT JUDSON, and ALTON R. Please let me know if any of this rings a bell to anyone! Sherry J. Thanks to Nancy Meyers, I found a cousin who seems to be the mother lode of information on the genealogical research I'm doing on my mother's side, but just in case there is someone else out there, the names I'm researching in the Lorain County area are: SOBOCIENSKI, KOZOWSKI (have seen multiple spellings), SAPLE/SAPOLSKI (same family just changed names back and forth it seems, one or two moved to Michigan), THIELMAN (most of the Thielmans, however, hail from Cleveland area. Thanks for the opportunity to re-post. Good luck to everyone in their research. Anybody need help in the Boston area, I can try to see what I can do for you. My ancestors went from NJ to Amherst, Lorain Co. about 1847. John Sherman and Margaret children; John Hinchman Sherman-studied law and became a lawyer Laury Ile Margaret-b. 1850 in Amherst m. Mr. ? Drake. Alice in WY
My query concerns the Brucker and Bruckner families of Lorain County. My Grandmother was Dora Brucker (b.1885, Amherst; d.1956, Lorain Co.) Dora married William H. King of Cleveland. I am told she was from a large family, but the only sibling I have a name for is brother George. Her parents were George W. Brucker (b.1851, Germany; d.1818, Amherst) and Katherine Bruckner (b.1850, Sandusky, Oh; d.1827, Amherst). Katherine's parents were Peter and Mary Bruckner of Baden Germany. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jerry Hobart Albuquerque, NM
My great-great-grandparents, Joshua and Martha "Patty (SEWARD) COUSINS were married April 10, 1804 in Vermont. Their first 11 children were born in Vermont and then they moved to Lorain Co., OH, where their last two children were born. Their oldest son, Chester Cordenier COUSINS was married on July 4, 1834 in Lorain Co., OH, to Patty E. PEMBER, who was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Some of the COUSINS married into the KELLOGG family and these too lived in Lorain Co., OH. The COUSINS family moved from OH to IL and on to IA and MO. I am interested in COUSINS, SEWARD, PEMBER and KELLOGG and related families. Jennie Vertrees backwood@grm.net
Neal, My sister-in-law Shirley Miller's mother was a Damon and I have a book on Damon's back to 1500's for her line-I think they originated in England and then to Conn. and eventually to OH. I will be in Florida until November 1 but after that will be gald to share this info with you. I took the original and had it photocopied as it was published several years ago by family and no one knows where the original is. Shirley's family lived in Hinckley and the other name I remember was VanDuessan in this family. I know the VanDussen line has been researched by a Van Dussen in Medina-I know the woman who is a Montessori teacher in Medina. I believe the PD had an article about her research about three years ago. Mary Boehnlein mmboehn@aol.com
I recently ran across probate court records for a Levi PERRIN who died in Avon, OH. I have found that he was from Naseby England. He left no direct heirs and so his estate was being divided amont 48 2nd cousins. LEVI PERRIN of Avon Township, Lorain County, Ohio died about 1918. The administrator of the estate was R A CHESTER. Mr. Perrin died without a surviving wife, children, siblings or first cousins. The estate was then to go to other cousins - of which 48 are listed including: JOB J CHESTER, FRANCES CHENEY, THEODORE CHENEY, CHARLES E CHESTER, JOHN C BLANCHETT, WILLIAM E BLANCHETT, JANE A CHESTER, MARY A CHESTER, MARY B CHESTER, and ISAAC CHESTER. Can anyone connect with these names? They all appear to come from the area of Naseby England. Margaret
Now for my side. Antone WERNER came from Koningsburg Germany in 1888/89. His wife, Augusta SPRENGEL WERNER came about 6 months later with sons, John aged 2 and Otto aged 2 months. They lived in the area of Grafton and Grafton Twp. Antone was the tavern keeper in the area and also worked in the stone quarries. Family history has that a Lena WEBBER SCHWORER helped them come to America and had also lived with them in Germany. Would love to hear from anyone in that family that might know more of that story. Charles William PFEIFFER married Sophia RUEGGER in Medina County but the lived in the Belden area and he operated a brickyard there. Sophia had a sister, Elizabeth Fredricka RUEGGER who first married a BEHNER and moved to Wood County Ohio and then she married a DYE. Sophia died in Wood Co while visiting her sister. Her sister died a few years later. Would like to connect with anyone from Elizabeth's family as well. Margaret
