    1. Re: [OHLORAIN] While I have your attention...
    2. I agree with you. Most of my research is in PA, OH and GA. We belong to groups in PA and GA, live in south, south Florida and would like to join a local genealogical society, but haven't heard of one. Can't believe Floridians are that transitory! We do have a good genealogy section in the Miami Public Library, however. I do appreciate our Rootsweb and have found a "cousin" through it. Doris Bridges, Homestead, FL

    3. Nancy and Carol are correct. Join and support the local society in the area where you ancestors lived. Then take one more step. Join a local group where you LIVE, even if it is not where your ancestors lived. It is hard to attend meetings when they are hundreds, if not thousands, of miles away. But you CAN attend ones where you live. I have yet to run across a local group which specified that your ancestors had to live in their area in order for you to join. The main purpose of local genealogical societies is education. A local group may not have members who are searching your surname, but they will have members who have had the same problems with locating information as you have. They can help! Give a local society where you live a try. Donna ****************************** Donna J. If you do not hear from them, they may be currently unsubscribed but you can find still locate them if you check back on http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index Of course the name of this list is ohlorain but you can enter the name of any list that you are subscribed to.
