Dave, Thanks so much for the information regarding military records from WW ll. I'll give it a try. Penny
Penny To get WW-II service records, you have to submit a standard form 180 to National Personnel Records Center (Military Personnel Records), 9700 Page Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63132-5100 http://www.nara.gov/regional/mprsf180.html It's hit or miss as to whether they still have them due to the fire of 1973. http://www.nara.gov/regional/mprfire.html Dave OHLORAIN-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > Subject: > > OHLORAIN-D Digest Volume 01 : Issue 234 > > Today's Topics: > #1 [OHLORAIN] Mona/SQUIRES ["Duane Rosendale" <bear@nwonline.n] > #2 Re: [OHLORAIN] Mona/SQUIRES [Mennellfam@aol.com] > #3 Re: [OHLORAIN] Roll Call ["Gary Nervig" <dannervig@worldnet.] > #4 [OHLORAIN] THOMAS Surname-Rocheste ["Kim" <kslone@erienet.net>] > #5 [OHLORAIN] world war ll [PHanes1368@aol.com] > > Administrivia: > To unsubscribe from OHLORAIN-D, send a message to > > OHLORAIN-D-request@rootsweb.com > > that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > > and no other text. Thanks for your response but I can't get back that far. I also think my Cooks may have come from Germany in the 1830's. Ruth Ann surnames: Ackerman, Avery, Bauers,Bellier, Bertolet, Bosch,Bratton, Camp, Cannon, Crollius, DeVoe, Griffith, Gleim, Halenbeck, Koppelberger, Kortright, MinakerRevercomb, Rubenkam, Rittenhouse, Sartorius, Underberg, von Boyneburg
Hi, Well, I can tell you that I had these ideas given to me as to what the outfits might have been: Cheerleader uniform Tap Dancer uniform Basketball uniform Volleyball uniform ROTC Club - Naby Sea Cadets School Uniforms.... Other than that, I still do not know for sure what the clothes represented or for sure who was in the picture. Still researching... Thanks for bringing it up again. Jane (Spurlock) Hoholski
Just enjoyed a visit to the webpage of St. Joseph Church in Amherst. Dawn, a look-up volunteer for the Lorgen web page, forwarded the URL to our web master and now it has been posted as a user friendly link. If your LC church has a webpage, please forward the URL to the Lorgen web master. I am sure LC researchers would love it. They might get to see old photos and perhaps learn a bit of church history. -- Nancy M. I was wondering if there was a definitive answer to Jane's query (see below). I remember seeing guesses, but nothing definite and I'm still curious! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jane" <jhoho@lorainccc.edu> To: <OHLORAIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 24, 2001 3:07 PM Subject: [OHLORAIN] more help needed Hi All, I am in need of more help. I submitted a picture to the Ancestral Images of Lorain Co. site. Amy has loaded the picture in as of yesterday. I am hoping that someone can at least give me some clues about it. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohlorain/pictures/New2001.htm go to the Unidentified Girls in Uniform photo. The picture is of 8 girls in some sort of uniform. I don't know if it is a sport uniform or maybe a school uniform. I believe the picture to have been taken sometime in the later 1910's. I have no idea what school they would have attended. It could have been Lorain High or maybe a catholic school. I have been to the Black River Historical Society and searched there with no luck. I believe that one of the girls would be my husband's grandmother Mary Agnes Kozar. My husband never met her because she died at the age of 36 in 1943 from Berrilym disease. My father-in-law passed away in 1985 before I started my quest, so I don't have any clues that way either. Would appreciate any help or clues... Thank you... Hi List, It appears I made a mistake in my Schroeder Information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------- Hi Sue, I'm wondering if in your Schroeder line there might be a George Schroeder who worked for the Thew Shovel Company in Lorain? My step-father worked there at the same time around 1927 and I do have a picture of Mrs. Schroeder with my mother taken at the Thew Shovel Plant in Lorain. I'm not researching Schroeders but thought if you are this might interest you. I also have a picture with Mrs. Schroeder, my mother and some other ladies including her daughter, Ruth taken at a house in Lorain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------- This is in error - The man who worked for Thew Shovel Company is George Shore and it was his daughter, Ruth, that married a Schroeder. Sorry about that. Tom Powell
