Wondering if someone could check a marriage certificate for Christian Nelson SORENSON & Doris LEUZLER. They were married April 2, 1914 in Elyria, Lorain County. Nels father was Lars SORENSON and his mother was Anna KLIM or JENSEN. Hoping his mothers maiden name is listed on the record. Thanks in advance.

My home town of Blair, Washington County, Nebraska is where I am registered. However, I was drafted from Washington, DC but when I was discharged I registered in my home town county of Washington. So, it will not always be from where they lived at the time of going into the service. good luck, Tom Powell

They sure do, mine is there. Problem is the individual service man has to do the registering themselves. Its no done automatically. When you are discharged the service tell everyone one to do this, but if the individual doesn't bother it doesn't happen. If the person recorded it, it will be there. Is anyone researching this family from late 1880s period? Chas. Lippy married Alice Cathabelle "Kitty" Elliott 18 Jan 1881, supposedly in Elyria (Bible record) , but no civil marriage record found. He died by 1889, but no cemetery record found. Any help/clues would be appreciated. Sarah
Was she moved later to a family plot? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jean Hill" <hillj2001@mediaone.net> To: <OHLORAIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2002 9:27 PM Subject: [OHLORAIN] MEARS Burried *Columbia Center Cemetary* Feb. 15, 1880 > I know for a fact that my great great grandmother Jane Mears was burried at Columbia Center Cemetary in Lorain County Ohio on February 15, 1880. (Family Bible and other offical documents) I have looked at the cemetary inscriptions for that cemetary and have not found hers there :(. Is it possible that the whole cemetary was not indexed? Anyone with information on this cemetary would be greatly appreciated :). > > Jean Hill > MEARS, CARSCADDEN, JACOBS > > > ==== OHLORAIN Mailing List ==== > Search the Archive of Messages for OHLORAIN Mailing List > http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl > >
Jean, Sometimes the index is based only on headstones. I search for two years before finding out my great grandparents didn't have a headstone but there were in the burial records of the church. I would go to the actual church or cemetery records and not rely on an index of headstones only. Mary
I thought you were looking for a Jane Mears!
Here is the address for Columbia Station cemetery. P.O.Box 819 Columbia Station, Ohio 44028 Tel. # 440-236-8802
Many of my ancesters are buried at Columbia cemetery. I will be in N. Ridgeville in 3 weeks and would be happy to take a picture of the gravesite if you like, or I could call the cemetery. Sincerely, Carol Reisinger Eskra
I posted my message to the list in error rather than sending it to the person directly. I apologize. Sharon
Thank you for the information and also for your offer to take the photo of the grave. There is some confusion, on the death certificate, as to the name of the child. Family tradition has called him Philip. (That would be Filippo in Italian) One death certificate was issued showing the name Fulipo CATALFO, but it was returned by the coroner for additional information. The new certificate shows his name as "Oulipo(e?)" CATALFO. He died 29 Feb 1912 (He was born 4 Aug 1910) He died in Amherst Twp., Lorain County. (He died in an accidental scalding when he either sat in or toppled backwards into a bucket containing very hot water for the laundry. His Mother never recovered from this loss. It is just so sad and tragic!) His parents were Joseph and Antonia (Giuffre) CATALFO. I am hoping to get a correct name for him from the grave marker. If it isn't too much trouble and you are able to check the graves around his could you see if any other CATALFO's are buried in the area of his? As far as I have been able to find there were no other Catalfo's in Ohio. I live in California, but I know you are probably covered with snow. Please let me know what it will cost and I will get a check off to you in the mail when you are going. (I know that will probably be in the spring when it warms up). Snail mail would be great. Thanks again, Sharon
Calvary Cemetery is more in the Clearview area of south Lorain on North Ridge Road. I would be happy to take a picture and send to you either via e-mail or snail mail. Do you know the location of the grave? If not, I will be able to find it I am sure. Margaret
Does anyone have an address for Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. The death certificate doesn't say whether it is the city or the county. Is there anyone there in that area who could take a picture of a grave for me in the spring? I would of course expect to pay for gas, film, time etc. I appreciate any help or suggestions. Sharon
