Last month while driving along Butternut Ridge Rd. in Olmstead Twp., I scanned the cemetery of course and saw markers in the Butternut Ridge Cemetery there, with the name of ELDRED. 3. Happy Valentine's Day. I was a student at MSU and cadged a ride with classmates to attend the wake of our much-loved Russian teacher. Since none of us had a car, a classmate's friend who was visiting from Buffalo, provided the transportation. Peter- the driver- and I were married three years later. The eerie part is that even though he was living in NY, we met in Michigan, his mother's family is from Olmsted and Berea, and my Dad's family are from Columbia Station. My husband is only mildly interested in genealogy, but paid attention enough to say that if I find any connection between us closer than cousin in the second degree he doesn't want to hear about it. 2. Hi Gail, I found several places to look: There were 26 William Glovers on the Virginia Disk. They all state the information on them can be found the in Virginia "The orginial Will Book. All are mentioned in that book on wills and what took place in the probate courts. Then for Jones Glover Married 1728-1850 Virginia on Disk 229 There is William Glovers on disk that can be found in Book called "The complete book of Emigrants 1607-1776 also on disk 350 Family Tree Maker Volume 15 (I only have 1 through 6) on tree 275. Virginia vital records disk 174 Virginia Genealogies 2 Family archive disk 15. There was a site, I'm still trying to find, that offered free lookups for these disks. If I find it again will let you know. Hope this helps Dee

    3. Thanks for sharing Karen. We were fortunate to be able to renew our wedding vows in the Holy Land in the exact place where Jesus' first miracle took place. Remember the Bible story about when the wedding feast ran out of wine and so Jesus turned water into wine? There were five of us American couples who took part in that awesome ceremony. We were deeply touched. Well, now this makes me wonder, just when did married couples start the custom of renewing their wedding vows here in the US, in addition to the old fashioned anniversary dinner for the whole family. No one in my own family ever renewed vows, but then no one ever seemed to live long enough or stay married long enough to do so. Here in Lorain County there was a Valentine's party at a local nursing home. There were several couples who were married to their sweethearts well over 50 years ago, some even more than 60 years. WOW! -- Nancy M. Meyers, Lorain OH

    3. Hi Nancy, Mark and I met 25 years ago at a Valentines Dance at college. Although I can't say that we met due to Genealogy I must say that Genealogy has certainly enhanced our relationship. As we work together (when he has time) searching out cemeteries, passenger lists and other genealogy related items we spend so much time together that it certainly strengthens the bond between us. For Christmas this year I had found the passenger list for Casper Dute who is one of my Husbands great grandfathers. I had the passenger manifest and a photograph of Casper framed for him as a gift. He's taken it to every place he's gone to show it off. It now hangs in our dining room as a reminder of his heritage. (We have alot of that sort of stuff "hanging around"!) Although his retirement is still a few years away we are both looking forward to the opportunity to travel together in search of our ancestors together. We haven't found any of our ancestors connecting, but we have found them as he and I are, working side by side. In September we will celebrate 25 years of marriage together by renewing our vows in front of our friends and family. Happy Valentines Day everyone! 2. NM Meyers
    3. Fellow Researchers, Stopped at the home of an acquaintance today and for the very first time I saw a 1916 plat map of Grafton Twp. showing landowners & acreage. It is approximately four foot by four foot. Appears to have been put together by a gas leasing company. It is NOT indexed, nor does it show any lots within the village limits of Grafton. If you need some information from this map, try to give me an area of the township your ancestors would have lived in. Next time I get over that way, will look at the map again for you. -- Nancy M. 1. [OHLORAIN] websites to check
    2. NM Meyers
    3. Fellow Subscribers, I am sure that most of you already have several websites available to you, and probably use them at least from time to time, to check on alleged scams/hoaxes/viruses/worms/etc. I know that the two area computer clubs that I belong to, do their utmost to keep members very well informed of such sites. The genealogy web masters also keep us informed. None the less, I have had several well intentioned people send me many sites to check. Please let it be known that I do have many to use. Thank all of you anyway. I am now, and will continue to be very supportive of our genealogy web masters, their guidelines and their decisions regarding any postings that they themselves choose to put on these lists. Those at our local, state and national levels do great work and provide us researchers with a wonderful selfless service. I personally average 25-30 hours per week with genealogy research volunteering and I am NOT even a webmaster. Am hoping to learn some of those skills one day soon. Two of my out-of-state genealogy web lists recently lost their web masters. One to pancreatic cancer at age 57 and the other to a paralyzing stroke. It makes me more aware of how precious these people are to us. A third gen list had their enterprising young person resign as web master, due to much criticism. As I said in my message on Jan. 31st, be kind to your web masters! If you have a concern or comment that might be deemed as overly critical, then email them PRIVATELY. -- Nancy M. As a service they list all hoaxes and it is easy to check and most importantly, they can be trusted.. 3. Usually I dismiss these types of messages as another hoax being passed on by people who don't take time to check them out. This on happens to be legitimate. I always check at http://www.snopes2.com/ for any questionable story going around. There was a warning posted yesterday in Michigan that this scam was going around. This time the person was correct in passing it on. Gary
