    2. Jeffrey & Virginia Di Donato
    3. Greetings to the list, I am in search of any info on my Grandparents Samuel Gibson, b.1879ish. and Mary "Mollie" (Brown) Gibson, b.1885ish, who lived on the border of Lorain and Cuyahoga Counties. My Grandparents originated in TN, moving to OH through and from KY and then IN. I know they arrived in OH with their daughters Dorothy (8) and Violet (1) some time between 1916-1917, where in Aug. 1917 they added Victor (my Dad) to the family. I cannot find any death records on them - country wide! But, I believe my Grandmother died in NEOH - maybe in Lorain Co? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Virginia

There are companies that scan in your pics to a floppy or zip disk also maybe a friend has a scanner and would scan them for you. Would be nice to see your pictures along with the others. Tom Powell

    3. Thanks for more info on these postcards. I know very little about any of them. honestly they are all images I have gathered online for the past few years. I only know what I could read from the image and any note I may have jotted down about them. If anyone else has any info on any of these images I would love to hear it. I would like to know if I was told this to scare me when I was little(60yrs. ago) or if it was true that someone was killed in Cascade Park and it was closed up. 3. The post card collection that Mary posted to the list were very nice to see again. Hopefully we will see some of them at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohlorain/pictures/index.htm soon Time marches on......and changes do take place. .....the First United Methodist Church at the northeast corner of 6th & Reid is now named the Cornerstone United Methodist Church as of late 2001. The church building is now officially on the real estate market. Dwindling membership, funds make it impossible to maintain the building for the small congregation. Vincent United Methodist Church, on north side of Route 254, just east of Rt. 57, has been sold to the school system and that congregation has now merged with 1st UMC, hence the church was renamed. .....The beautiful 1924 Masonic Lodge at the southwest corner of 4th & Washington Ave. in Lorain, is being sold to a local businessman. Masons & Eastern Stars can continue to meet there for another three years as tenants if they choose to. .....The old Lorain Carnegie Library, now used for city storage, just had the time capsule taken from its cornerstone by city officials in the past few weeks. The story was in the Journal. .....Of course the shipbuilding yards area almost unrecognizable, when the ship building ceased long ago and the place became part of the Spitzer complex, with a private marina and some condos to soon overlook the Black River. .....Other changes that I will leave to some of the Lorainites themselves to mention. Many of these changes bring memories and a few tears to eyes. -- Nancy M. Meyers, Lorain OH

    2. Thanks for that, I see my error now! I think I got caught up with the person who was trying to work it with 1991 and of course there isn't a 91 on a clock or as a month or day. I haven't been to school in over 40 years (that was when I graduated college), so I haven't had the gray matter tuned into math much. Do they even still call it math! Sharon

    3. Thanks again for the input. I had to drive past many of the places in the postcards today when I ran an errand. I passed Lakeview Park, Antlers, got stopped at the light at Erie and Broadway and took a good look up Broadway, then headed over the Bascule bridge. I viewed everything very differently after having just looked closely at all those postcards just 15 minutes or so before I left the house. I think it might be fun to get out and take some pictures of what those places look like today and do a kind of "then and now" page. If I could only find the time to do all the things I want to do...... Mary

    2. Mary, The pixs brought back a lot of memories for me.The pix "looking North on Broadway",did you notice the way the cars were parked???.We used to go down town on Saturday night,5000 people had the same idea, and park our car and stand in front of the car and greet every one you knew. The people were shoulder to shoulder. The bath house where we used to swim and the little store to buy goodies. Antlers Hotel were we dine and had many school dances. The bascule bridge. I attended the ceremony the day it open. Cascade park where my folks took me to play. The shipyard, I laid awake at night and could here the Rat-a-Tat-Tat of ships being built for the war. I could go on and on but, It brings back a lot of memories for me. I also have post cards and someday I will put them on my web site. If you are interested in the early history of Lorain,go to my Web Site at http://www.hartsfamilytree.com and click on "The William Smith Story". It takes you back to 1810. 3. First I would like to thank all of you for your comments by email and in my guest book. I really hadn't planned on putting those postcards online it was when I saw the email here earlier that I decided to do it this morning. I just started putting my website together last week. I don't have any ancestral ties to Lorain county (that I know of). My husband does (ANDREWS SHERCK KOVACH and KOCAK), but I have been so busy with my own line that I have hardly had a chance to touch his. I do have one question for those of you that have viewed the postcards. Did the page take too long to load? I have DSL and everything loads in a heartbeat. I have a few more cards to put on a page and need to know if I should break it up to less pictures on a page. Thanks so much for your input, I will let you know when I get more images. 2. Sharon, Thanks for the reply. The solution that you gave is not a perfect symmetry. I put the question to my son ,and here is what he said and I agree. The reason its perfect symmetry is because it goes 0220 0-2 2-0 see the number are a mirror of each other. 09:01 09/01, 0901 does not work because it would have to be 09:90 09/90 0990 which doesn't exist.
