    3. My error, should have read Ohio Records and Pioneer Families. I mistakenly typed "of" in place of "and". So there are bits of data that date well past any of the early pioneer families. BTW, there are back issues for sale at OGS. See the webpage. http://www.ogs.org/ and click on publications -- Nancy M. Meyers, Lorain OH

    3. Hi, Nancy. Would the court in question have been the Court of Common Pleas? Both THOMPSONs mentioned and Hiram OFFENBBURG (OFFENBERG) are Columbia Twp. people and are collaterally related to me. S.B. Thompson was Samuel Banner THOMPSON(1836-1917), son of John V. THOMPSON(1808-1893) and Amanda OSBORN(1809-1890). I would like to get a look at the case in question. Was it skullduggery a misunderstanding or what? But unless I'm missing something - all too likely - the only court records for that period that the LDS have filmed are Probate records. Any suggestions as to how I can find out more? 3. Hello all I am new to the list. I live in Southern Ohio but an attempting to collect data on my Cleveland area relatives. Can someone tell me if there are copies of the microfilm somewhere for abt 1890-1908 on deaths. And births before 1898? I found Vol. 4-5 of births (1898-1908) and Deaths (1867-1889) at Columbus at the Ohio Historical Society. It is a LONG drive up to Cleveland, hoping to find them a little closer south. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! 3. abstracted from the Feb. 13, 1892 issue of The LC Reporter...... Ridgeville................... Mrs. John MAXWELL has been sick for more than a week. Why don't that wedding take place here that was predicted some time ago? Harry PECK is again able to resume control of his old paper route. Miss Jennie RAMSDELL of Lorain is spending a few weeks with her sister. Happy sleigh rides have come to an end, but 4 weeks of sleighing once in 3 years ain't bad for this climate. The dance at the town hall on the 30th by the Ridgeville Social Club was a decided success. Musical talent from Cleveland helped to make it special. Joseph LEHMAN returned from a business trip to Germany & resumes his work in the mill. He had pleasant & peaceful weather for both voyages. Sick list: Mrs. L. EMMONS, Mrs. & Mrs. James HOSTLANDER, Mrs. G. AVERY, Mrs. DUNHAM, W.B.WORDIN, Gilbert FIELDS, James BEVERAGE, & S.C. BUTLER. Friends & neighbors of Miss Ethel BOURNE surprised her Thursday evening of last week. The recent streak of good sleighing was well improved by the tarmers, and MOORE's yard again is seen crowded with logs of all sizes. While all the crying "save the primeval forest" why not begin right here at home? We report the death of Herbert WORDIN, victim of the grippe. He was the only son of our Justice W.B. WORDIN. He resided many years in Elyria before his removal to Tenn. he was for many years baggage master on the Lake Shore road. Two years ago, he with his newly married wife, Miss Lizzie STOKES & family went to Tenn. to reside, hoping that the climate there would be more favorable to his health. They had come back six months ago due to the death of her mother. The funeral was Tuesday at the home. Rev. J.P.RUDINGER conducted services, and the casket was placed in the vault at the Center Cemetery. .................................................................... -- Nancy M. 2. NM Meyers
    3. Please accept my apology for accidentally sending this list a copy of my message yesterday that was intended for a Board member of the Brownhelm Historical Association. Need to explain to all of you who may be confused and in the dark. On April 13th, the BHA will have a gala John Mercer Langston Historical Marker dinner & dedication. It is to be held at the new RED CLAY in Vermilion (that is the site of the former McGarvey's). Of course most of you know that John M. Langston was the 1st African-American attorney admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1854. He was elected clerk of Brownhelm Township in 1855. Elected clerk of Russia Twp. in 1856. >From that point oh was very active in Oberlin and in other states. He organized the National Equal Rights League in 1864, which was the forerunner of the NAACP. Many other accomplishments, too numerous to mention in this email. The Historical Marker will be permanently located at the historic Brownhelm School on North Ridge Rd., Vermilion. If this event interests you, contact Tracy, the Committee Chair, at 965-8888. Nancy M. Meyers, Lorain OH
