    2. Nancy, I did want to go to the OGS this year I have been waiting for Lorain Co. to have a table there. I was even willing to man the table if one was going to be there this year but alas I will be unable to attend this year due to an illness this year. I hope some from the list will be attending it has always been a wonderful weekend. Ruth Ann

    3. Hi Nancy, Its very discouraging. I have my blocked senders list full of names and they just keep coming. Its great to be able to delete them but I am thinking that my delete key will certainly wear out long before the rest of the computer does! As for the Conf. I will be attending, as a vendor representing the Detroit Society for Genealogical Research. Should be interesting! 1. Re: [OHLORAIN] Discouraging isn't it & curtailing spam
    2. Byron Bray
    3. > Although, this is not genealogy, I offer the following, > as a way of cutting down on SPAM. Thanks, Margaret, for your excellent tutorial on avoiding spam. I can think of only one additional strategy. Sooner or later, no matter how you try, your name will probably be spread around and you will find yourself saddled with spam. If you are smart and follow Margaret's advice, it will be several years before this happens, but eventually it probably will. If and when you begin to receive unbearable amounts of spam, change your e-mail address. Call your ISP and notify them that you want to set up a new e-mail address. Tell them you want to continue your old email address for 30 days after the new one is set up. Then, go through your email address book and email all the people who are important to you, informing them of your new email address. Allow your old email address to exist for 30 days or so, to allow those you may have overlooked to turn up. Then have your old email address eliminated. From then on, all those spammers who are plaguing you will send their junk to an invalid address and you won't receive it. It will be returned to them as being undeliverable. Regards, Byron byron.bray@cmug.com

Plan on attending the March 20th program in Westlake, about Dover Twp pioneers & local history, in the hopes of gathering a little pre-1824 information about the northeast portion of what is now LC. Got it on my calendar and so the rest is up to HIM. If anyone in this area would like to ride along, please let me know. Nancy M. Meyers, Lorain OH

    1. [OHLORAIN] Avon Historical Society
    2. NM Meyers
    3. Hi Jack, Just to let you know that Elmer and I enjoyed the meeting at the old Avon Town Hall on Monday evening. It was nice to see some familiar faces. Jean & Del Fisher went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. We always try to attend and be supportive of any of Burt Nesbit's presentations. You are fortunate Jack, to be working with a dedicated group of people who really treasure their local history. Avon Historical Society seemed to get a lot of business done that evening, and the Society is indeed fortunate to have you at its helm. Looking forward to seeing that Bicentennial marker, for that famous Avon citizen, Norton S. TOWNSHEND, put into place soon. Keep up the good work! -- Nancy M. Wednesday March 20, The Cuyahoga-West Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will hold their meeting at 7:30 P.M. in the Westlake United Methodist Church at 27650 Center Ridge Road, Westlake. Keith Sheldon, historian for the Bay Village Historical Society and Rose Hill Museum, will tell us about the early settler families of North Dover Township. Please note that Dover township is adjacent to the present day Avon township in northeast Lorain County. You may recall that Avon was part of that area of Cuyahoga Co. before Lorain County was formed in 1824. So this program might have some meaningful information if your ancestor was a very early pioneer.
