    2. NM Meyers
    3. I believe this article is from a 1938 issue of the WELLINGTON ENTERPRISE as there is an ad for the movie ALWAYS GOODBY starring Barbara Stanwyck on the reverse side. ........DESCENDANTS OF PIONEER COUPLE TO MEET YEARLY........ An annual reunion has been established recently for the descendants of Christopher & Anna SIMONSON, pioneer residents of Rochester Twp., who settled on what is now the William MURRAY farm, after having traveled from Massachusetts in a cart drawn by a team of oxen. To the couple were born five children: Lydia, Maria, Ann, Asa, & Lafayette, all of whom married & settled in this vicinity. Mrs. Glen DUTRIDGE and Lyle DAGNAN are grandchildren of Maria. George SIMONSON Sr. and Mrs. Charles LEACH, both of Huntington, are children of Asa, Lafe SIMONSON,of Rochester, is a son of Lafayette SIMONSON. Last Sunday a meeting of the descendants of Lafayette was held at the Lafe SIMONSON home in Rochester. AT that time it was decided to make the reunion an annual affair & to include all the descendants of Christopher & Ann. The first reunion will be held next year at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ed RINGER, Savannah Lake. Mrs. Lafe SIMONSON is president and Mrs. Elver SEARLES of Camden is secretary-treasurer. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Nancy M. 3. Researchers, Came across a 1934 centennial edition of the Lorain's city newspaper. Many historical articles and small blurbs about different types of business. Will be glad to look for a story or an advertisement concerning your ancestor who may have had a family operated business or store in the city of Lorain. mailto:nmmeyers@centurytel.net -- Nancy M. 3. Didn't they levy a poll (head) tax until the civil rights era. Originally it was a per head tax for men 21 and over. By 1920, it may have been tied in with voting. (That's abt the time we women first voted, right?) Perhaps these records are still on file at the courthouse. Shirley HAAS Hulett in San Diego >>>Thanks - Norma has to also include probate information and certified death certificates but the one item that is troublesome is the proof of residence from when Uncle Carl was a very young married man RENTING in Amherst because that address is what is listed on the insurance policy. Good thoughts out there, thanks. I know someone has had to deal with this type of brick wall before Marilyn ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 3. >>>.I am not sure how to read this; what does it mean to have defendants and a plaintiff in a civil probate? Is that just a "pro forma" kind of thing, or was there a contested will or what? Was wondering the same thing myself I'm betting that this is the executor asking for payment from the estate... I'm confused by the fact that while I've found a number of these civil probate actions, I ve found far fewer willsand/or estates relating to the same cases One more question: Do you receive a copy of the complete document for 30 cents, or just a certified copy of the information listed on the website?? 3. Just input that last name you are searching & click search. It will turn up whatever results it has. Then if you want copies of anything, write to the court. I understand it's 30 cents for a marriage license (or possibly 60 cents) if it's two pages. No checks...money orders or cash only. 3. Since your death certificate didn't give place of residence, have you tried looking for an obituary. Often they give a place of residence. And of course city directories. You might also check with the cemetery to see if their records indicate where the person who paid for the plot lived. Some do and some don't. Donna
