In the book Reminiscence of Elyria, OH it mentions a Mr. Hobill's shop. Does anyone know Mr. Hobill's first name and is it still there? Linette
Researchers, Karis, the librarian at the Hick memorial Library of the LCHS is having some email problems and so she has asked me to post this information, on her behalf, to this list. There is a book entitled "The Lake Terminal Road" by Jeffrey D. Brown, address is: Box 104 Bolivar , OH 44612. This was published by Railhead Publications, Canton, Ohio in 1996. For those of you who are also having trouble with FTM, I haven't seen a solution so will tell you how I solved the problem. I went to 'questions and answers' on FTM and it said to turn off the computer. If that doesn't work (which it didn't for me) here is what it told me to do and I no longer am having trouble except that I have one more step to take when I first turn on my computer. "When starting the program, I get the message, "An error has occurred in OLE2NLS.DLL. Please try reinstalling OLE." How do I fix this? Answe:r It appears that this Microsoft problem was addressed in the Windows Millennium Edition (ME) and by installing or upgrading to that operating system, this error message is no longer an issue. For earlier versions of Windows, try the following: Verify Windows Regional Settings Click Start then Settings and then Control Panel. Double-click on the Regional Settings icon. Click the Regional Settings tab. If English (United States) is not chosen, select it from the list. Choose OK and allow your computer to restart. If English (United States) is selected check to make sure that there are not multiple instances of English (United States) on the list. It there are, restart your computer and then come back to this list and make sure that only one English (United States) is shown in the list and that you select it. If the above changes works but the next time you start your computer you again receive the same error message, try the following. Go to Regional Settings in the Windows Control Panel. Right click this icon, select Shortcut, and agree to have it placed on your Desktop. Go to your Desktop, right-click your mouse on the icon and select Cut. --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Tax Center - online filing with TurboTax

Listers: Boy was I disappointed last week. The Lorain Co Probate Court info is online, I sent an appropriate request & money for 2 entries, both marriage records, and was denied any info by mail. They are unable to respond to our inquires at this time because they have too many requests & not enough personnel to available to do them. But if I come in a clerk will be made available to assist me in locating & copying the records. So if you want research you have to do it yourself, in person, or enlist the help of Lorain Co Chapter OGS, Consolidated Title, Great Lakes Title Co, Real Estate Loan Services of Lorain Co or a personal genealogical researcher, of which they named Margaret Breitweg ov Avon Lake. I understand their predicament, but I'm really disappointed. Nancy Plain www.ohioparks.net/countrystage

Debby, the R/R was absorbed by others years ago. What are you looking for specifically? Debby, To do more research on this place, a good source for this info is the Black River Historical Society. Probably more human interest information rather than any technical info such as the web sites give. They have vertical files on these sort of things, but nothing published. Another source is the vertical file in the Special Collections in the Lorain Public Library, main branch. If the file cabinet is locked, the reference librarian will be glad to unlock it for you. A third source of information would be the group of Lake Terminal retirees that meet in Lorain. Also if you have not already done so then please do visit http://www.greatdecals.com/Justy.html Then contact Paul, his email is at that site. There are some nice photos there also. Paul is also extremely knowledgeable on local quarries. -- Nancy M. I don't know anything about the Peter Ostrander mentioned, but if that is a surname Hawk is researching, I went to Berea High (Cuyahoga County) with Bill Ostrander (Class of 1958) and his sister Nancy (Class of 1962). Alice BHS '60
For the 1930 EDs go to: http://1930census.archives.gov/ these probably will have changed since the 1920 census, but it is a start for you. Doris H.
Can anyone help me figure out which Enum District I could find Adams Street in Elyria in the 1920 (and hopefully 1930) census? Looking for the Smith household that I have in 1910 but not later. thanks! Thanks to all the people that helped getting info on my grandpa. Anthony DiCello. I now have a family tree started for that side of the family. Does anyone know how I can find out info on Lake Terminal R.R. in Lorain. That is where he worked and nothing seems to come up in the R.R. web for me. Thanks Debby....
Penny, are you making a joke--axcess? Do you mean access?
I recently saw this information on the 1905 Lorain County Rural Directory: Peter Ostrander, rfd 1, Rochester, 2m, Rochester t. Occ. Farmer, (Am) own 75a, Mrs. Kate. I understand most of the information here but would be interested in knowing if there is anyone on the list that might have more information about this person or other relatives of this person. I suspect that this is a fourth or fifth greatgrandfather but can not make the tie at this point without more information. Thanks, Guy Hawkins MGHawk65@aol.com
I'll be off line for 2 weeks, hope I don't miss too much. Penny in Wa. state
what is FTM ?? Thanks, Alice
Close all your programs, then restart the computer. I would turn it off, wait a few seconds and turn it back on. Open your genealogy program which I assume is FTM by this message. It is caused by some type of Windows conflict between programs. You do not need to reinstall anything.
