    2. Thanks for posting this website. This research has been on my "To Do List" for too long. It appears that the RRB has made it easier to get this genealogical information. My excuses are over! Thank you! Jean

Today I received information about my grandfather from the Railroad Retirement Board. They apologized for not having as much information as usual because my grandfather died before he retired. What I did get was my grandfather's employee history with occupation and salary, his original application for a Social Security card, my grandmother's baptismal certificate, and the dates of my grandmother's marriages. What a bargain for $27. The Social security information would have cost me almost that much alone. If you have someone who worked for the railroads this is a great resource. _www.rrb.gov/_ (http://www.rrb.gov/) Good luck, Lynn

    1. BLACKWELL
    2. Nancy Meyers
    3. Norma, Grace married Hugh A. FOSTER between 1900 - 1904. They are both still single and living at home with their parents in LaGrange in the 1900 census. By 1910 Grace is divorced and living with Josiah A. & Julia BLACKWELL (her parents) and her 6 yr old son Roland B. FOSTER. By 1920 she is married to Peter SPRINGER and living in Amherst Twp of Lorain County. Her widowed father and son Roland are living with them in 1920. They moved to the Elyria area by 1924 on Caldwell Ave. Roland is living with them in 1925 and is a teacher. Peter worked in 2/3 local factories and Grace ran a beauty shop out of their home. Grace died Nov. 1, 1953 in Elyria. She is buried in the Ridge Hill Memorial Cem., Amherst Twp. By 1910 Hugh A.Foster is remarried to a Lottie, has a small daughter and is listed as a retail grocer on the LaGrange Village Square. Hope this helps. BTW, who is the one family member who will be 93 later this month? Nancy

    1. BLACKWELL'S OF LORAIN COUNTY
    2. Norma W. Matthews
    3. Hi, My name is Norma W. Matthews, I live in Georgia but was born in Cleveland, long, long, long ago ;-) I am a direct of the BLACKWELL'S (Edwin and Magdalena Ann (Laney Ann) Dieffendorf Blackwell) who came to Lorain County from New York state by 1846. Their children: James b 1839 NY d 1863 Orchard Knob, TN, Mary G. b 1844 d 1846 OH., Josiah Alanson b 1846 Lorain, Cty., OH., d 1921 Lorain Cty., OH I know there were other Blackwell's located in that area, don't know if they were related or not. I have only one family member who will be 93 later this month, and she can't help much. Is anyone else researching THIS--BLACKWELL family? I certainly could use some help. I have an aunt, whom I can vaguely remember from my childhood, who lived in Elyria. Her name was Grace Blackwell Foster Spri/enger. I spent hours looking at records at Ancestry.com last night trying to find out when she died. I last found her in the 1930 census, but after that absolutely nothing. If you know ANYONE researching the descendents of Edwin Blackwell b England 1811, I'd so appreciate their name or address----. Thank you, Norma W. Matthews [email protected]

If you are still a subscriber and can furnish this information, many thanks. Dawn Linden
