    2. A few years back I owned a Ford and an Olds -- after renewing my license plates for both cars, I began receiving info from dealers -- "buy a new Ford" or "Buy a new Olds" and wondered how in the heck these dealers knew what type of cars I owned.... guess what? The Ohio License Bureau was selling the information! I now tell them on my forms "do not sell my info" -- that is a real crock, eh? I don't know if it is still done -- haven't received any offers to buy new cars since moving to Brunswick 3 years ago -- maybe it was just Cuyahoga County?? Alice

    3. East Cleveland Township Cemetery Foundation's Footsteps of the Past The East Cleveland Township Cemetery Foundation is hosting Footsteps of the Past to introduce the cemetery and some of its residents to the general public. Get acquainted with city founders, war veterans, victims of local disasters and many others. The cemetery will have docents available throughout the cemetery to share the stories waiting to be told of our early settlers. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 10 and September 17, rain or shine, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. in the East Cleveland Township Cemetery located at 1621 East 118th Street. The self-guided tour begins in the chapel designed by well-known architect Frank B. Meade, that has been under renovation since January 2005. Perhaps you want to be reconnected with some of your family's ancestors. The burial records will be available to assist family members searching for that long lost great-grandparent, Uncle, Aunt or other family member. 3. Hi Shirley, As we speak another RV is being loaded with food and will be on it's way down to help the people in the Hurricane Area. Watching the TV really makes my heart ache for those poor people who lost so much. It will take a long time to get things back to order. I see on TV this morning that they are going to take out the balance of the people by force if necessary. It is a shame that the government has to use force to get those people out in order to save their lives. The people forget about all of the disease that will run ramped throughout that area and when there is no way out then what will they do??? Our thoughts and prayers are with the people down there and I have added your family to my prayers. I have to go now. 3. Hi Estella: Thanks for your email..My kids are hoping to get a large RV so they can be close to home. Many fundraisers are going on here in San Diego, too..Tragedy is bringing the nation together once again. As an asside: A local oil millionaire is has arranged for several hundred to be airlifted from NO to San Diego on private jets. 80 of the evacuatees are staying in a 5-star hotel downtown and Mr. Millionaire is taking them shopping for new clothes. Apparently, the damage to my kids home is only one of the hurdles they will have to overcome. Apparently, Allstate's computers have lost all of the claims information and claim # they provided on Thursday. So right the kids are driving 180 miles to Biloxi. to hopefully meet with Allstate claims reps there. I'm hoping that the roads are clear and that it is a safe drive. They have heard reports that there are gangs of thugs along the roadways attempting to highjack vehicles. 1. another way to help
    2. Nancy Meyers
    3. Fellow researchers, Thinking about our ancestors.....when our grandparents and great grandparents had overwhelming problems, neighbors & church friends never hesitated to help in anyway they could. They were great role models. If people's budgets do not allow a monetary donation to the Katrina victims, they can house sit do plant or animal care so that younger healthy active Red Cross Volunteers can go do their part in the Katrina ravaged area. I am glad to be able to help that way also as. I have a couple of younger nurse friends that are also Red Cross volunteers who just needed to be freed up to go with a local Red Cross disaster recovery group. My daughter, in Houston, with 2 small children of her own, can help her church group in relief work this weekend for victims who were bussed there from New Orleans. Our lives do get re-arranged when we least expect it. Thank you Shirley Haas Hulett for letting us know that your family is safe. Peace, Nancy M. 1. KATRINA is realted to all of us in someway

    3. Fellow genealogists, We, along with many others, have canceled our holiday trip & reservations. We think it is best to help conserve our nations gas supply and donate what we would have spent to those relief efforts on the gulf coast. Katrina's death toll is rising. ...where will they bury those have lost their lives? Will there have to be mass graves needed? Records all of all kinds have been lost. As a young mother, back in 1956., I buried a new born baby son while living in Kenner LA. At the time, we lived on the New Orleans Airline Highway. His little gravesite, along with thousands of others, is now lost as well. In order for us to "downsize" as we have been planning to do for sometime now, we are having a sale next month, including my duplicate genealogy materials. We decided the procedds will enable us help out a bit more more in the relief efforts. Perhaps others can do this sort of thing as well. As a retired nurse, I can well understand all that has transpired within the walls of the hospitals, clininc & nursing homes. If any of you on this list have loved ones in the affected area, please let me know privately at [email protected] We can at least include them specifically in our daily prayers. 3. Thanks Jane. Here are 2 great sites where they are matching up hurricane victims with people who are offering free accommodations. The response has been unbelievable -- I saw over 100 postings go up in just an hour. Craig's List was mentioned in a CNN article this morning. 3. I know this is not gen related but thought I could add to the Hurrican info. There are many sources of information...re mississippi, at least sunherald.com eyesonkatrina.com (the local neswpaper's blog) Wlox tv website...with links to search for survivors. My daughter Skye, son-in-law Chris, and baby granddaughter, Jordan, live in Long Beach Ms (between Pass Christiane & Gulfport) where he is a CB with the US Navy. He has just returned from 6 months duty in Spain...what a homecoming. Resource wise, they left with few provision, no check book and his first paycheck stateside had not yet arrived. They headed north and east to Alabama and are staying in a hotel in a little town called Grove Hill Alabama. My kids are among some 100+ Mississippi refugees staying at the the Windwood Inn. A freeway bypassed Green Hill some years ago and I understand that there's not much there. However, the towns people are doing more than I'd ever expect. The Baptist church paid for 2 my kids first 2 nights; the pubisher of the local newspaper paid for 2 additional nights and treated them to dinner at the local diner. The Baptist Church threw a "social" for the refugees so that they could get aquainted with the townspeople and with each other. A local couple made friends with my kids and offered them the use of there washing machine today so finally, they have clean clothes. Chris is hoping to drive back to Long Beach tomorrow to see if their new home is still standing and if their pets are still alive. From the news reports, we know that the town of Long Beach Ms was flattened from the Ocean northward to the railroad tracks. However, my kids live abt 3 miles north of the tracks so we're still holding out hope that their 4 bedroom brick home is still standing... Please hold good thoughts for us. 3. Hi Mona, I have a little bit of information. Leland Edward Rawson was born July 23, 1890 in Ohio and died Jan 15, 1954 in Los Angeles. His mother was Metta Thompson who was born in ~1872 in Ohio. Margaret Murdoch's mother's maiden name was Erne, and Margaret died on July 25, 1941. Leslie Rawson was born in ~1899 in Ohio and worked as a draftsman for the oil refinery in Los Angeles also in the 1920s. His wife's name was Emily who was born in Missouri about 1901. Sorry I don't know who Leland's father was.
