    3. Hello everyone, I just subscribed to this list. I was advised by other geneological buffs that the people on this list know a great deal. My maternal great-grandmother died in Carlisle Twp. in 1899. There were a number of children. I have not located all of them and would like some information on Gore Orphanage. Does anyone know if it was in existience in 1899-1900? Would there be any records salvaged from there? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Roberta Chapin [email protected]

    3. Sorry, everyone, about the change in the web address for the Lorain County genealogy page. My provider did not notify me of this recent change. In the past they allowed me to keep the old address when I explained my dilemma: I had tried to keep the original URL, because if Lorain County was googled, we were in the top 3. I hated to have to change it. So, my apologies! The corrected address is below in my signature. They are of sentimental value and would only be of interest to someone who is "into" genealogy. The two people whose items I have are: Murlon Krueck (first husband of Carrie Dobbeck) who passed away in the early 1930's and Fred (Fritz) Schneider (second husband of Carrie) who passed away in 1974. Please contact me off list if you are related or know of someone who is. Thanks! Gayle [email protected]

    1. Re: [OHLORAIN] Manning Ware and Polly Manly Obit. Lookup
    2. Hi Deb, Thank you for the information that you sent. I appreciate the time and effort you took to help me. The Polly Clark information, I believe, is correct concerning her parents. Although some researchers say that she didn't marry William Stewart Maynard. I am told that she married an unknown Maynard. I thought her obituary might list a former husband since she died after 1880. I haven't found the obit. yet. The Manning Ware information, I still need to do more digging. About a year ago, I sent and inquiry to another researcher about the possibility of Manning Ware being connected with Frederick Ware and Jemima Manning. I was thinking that Frederick and Jemima were grandparents. Somehow this inquiry became factual, even though the other researcher posted a note that he had no confirmation of Manning being the son of Frederick and Jemima.....others have taken the information as factual. Thanks again, Jim Taylor

    2. Thank you for the obituaries for Manning Ware's wife. I do have these. The Extract about the Ware and Irish family from the History of the Western Reserve was very interesting. I have not seen this article. I do keep in touch with Charles and Jane (Ware) Irish's grandson. I just saw him last Sunday. I would like the rest of the article. It is very interesting that Charles and Jane lived in Ashtabula County. My Ware and Hazelton's started out in Lorain County and ended up in Ashtabula County. I am not sure why. Thank you so much for another piece of the family puzzle. Jim Taylor

    2. Jim, There is another column to this narrative, please let me know if you would like the rest. Hope this is helpful to you. Richelle Extracted from Heritage Quest online History of the Western Reserve By Harriet Taylor Upton Chicago, Lewis Pub. Co., 1910, 2184 pgs. Pp. 1196-97 Charles Manning Irish, secretary and treasurer of the Lorain Banking Company, ex-treasurer of Lorain county and a prominent citizen of the city of Lorain, was born in Pittsfield, Lorain County, Ohio, September 14, 1862. He is a son of Charles and Jane (Ware) Irish, the father a native of New York State and the mother of Vermont. The Irish family is an old one in the state of New York, and the Wares are an old family in New England. Charles Irish removed to Pittsfield just before the Civil war, and began work for Manning Ware, a blacksmith, who later became his father-in-law. After his marriage he made his home in the adjoining township of Camden until the death of his wife, in 1895. For two years Mr. Irish lived at Rock Creek, at Ashtabula County, Ohio, and in 1898 came to the city of Lorain, where he died in 1899.

    2. Jim, I couldn't find obits Manning Ware or Polly Manly, but did find two obits for Manning Ware's wife, Mary. Hope they are of some use to you. Richelle *********** Elyria Republican, The (Elyria, Ohio), December 24, 1896 PITTSFIELD. Mary Maynard was born in Pittsford, Rutland county, Vermont, October 24th, 1820, was married to Manning Ware, January 3d, 1839, with whom she came to Ohio in 1859, and settled in Pittsfield. They afterwards lived at various places. Her husband died April 9th, 1880. Since that time she has lived with her daughter and husband, Mr. And Mrs. John Barrance, where she died December 12th, aged 76 years, 1 month and 18 days. She experienced religion and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1843. She has lived a conscientious Christian life. She was the mother of six children, all living except one -- two sons and three daughters. Three attended the funeral. William, of Ridgeville, Mattie Hazelton, of Penfield, and Adelia, of Pittsfield. Her son Dalton, living in Michigan, and daughter, Mrs. Susan Whitney of Colorado, were unable to be present. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday forenoon, conducted by the Rev. T. D. Bentley. Interment in Camden cemetery. Lorain County Reporter (Elyria, Lorain, Ohio) December 19, 1896 Slowly and silently one by one, like autumn leaves, the older citizens are passing off the stage of action. Mrs. Mary Ware, aged seventy-six years, quietly laid down the earthly, to take up the immortal life last Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. B. Barrance. She was born in Richland County, Ohio, in 1820. In 1839 she was married to Manning Ware. In 1858 together with her husband and family, she came to our town, where much of her life has been spent. Mrs. Ware was the mother of six children, one of whom preceded her into immortality. She early in life embraced religion and has ever been a faithful, consistent Christian. Her daily life was quiet and unassuming, and her first thought was for the happiness of others. The last sad rites were observed Tuesday, at the home of her daughter, and the remains laid quietly to rest in the Camden cemetery. Thus closes a useful and beautiful life, but its end is not yet for its influence will live on and on til time shall be no more. ----Mar. That would have been a major disaster for a city that size to have been devastated like New Orleans was and I thank God that Corpus Christi, where I am, was spared. We didn't even get a drop of rain from the storm, just high tides all the way up to the sand dunes. Joyce
