    1. [OHLOGAN-L] Logan County Surnames - ROBB/ROSS
    2. Richard Ross
    3. Have a couple of Pennsylvania Families that are I believe connected and found on the 1850 Logan County Census living next door to one another, but at this time it has been difficult trying to prove this. Benjamin F. ROBB married Jane Elizabeth ROSS in Hardin County in 1846 and was living next door to my Elizabeth ROSS, a widow with three sons named George H., A. H. and Sullivan. A. H. and Elizabeth are on the Tax Census for 1851, but somehow Sullivan gets missed, this according to LDS records which may be wrong. A. H. disappears before 1860 and I lost track of Elizabeth. When George went to Pulaski County in 1860 Benjamin and Jane followed. Sullivan went to Crawford County by 1860 where he married Emma C. CASEY. About 1873 George H. ROSS moves into Mercer County, Missouri where he purchases land. About 1875 Benjamin F. ROBB and family, along with the Sullivan ROSS family settled into Mercer County as well. From here the family prospers and proceeds to fan out across the country and die into obscurity, many without a tombstone and into a county where the courthouse burns. I believe I have enough circumstantial evidence to tie these two families together by marriage. From another researcher on the ROBB side comes that fact that Jane's mother was named Elizabeth and father named John who died prior to 1850, but alas is not found on a Mortality Schedule for Ohio and in keeping with good ROSS tradition leaves no paper trail or tombstone. The CIA would love to have people like our ancestors, who only made sure to document LAND transactions, but otherwise leave no trace.
