It would probably be useful if you borrowed, InterLibrary Loan, the microfilm of The Religious Telescope that covers the year 1837--- I remember reading an article telling about a drowning similar to this, or maybe this one. In 1838 The Religious Telescope was published at Circleville, Ohio and, while it was the "official newspaper" of the United Brethren in Christ Church (present day United Methodist Church), it also carried the "local" news and Logan County is not that far from Circleville. The paper circulated all over the country, by mail, so the news is about people from New York to Oregon, especially if they were connected with any of the Protestant churches. I wish the microfilm were indexed for obituaries, but it's not. Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA loans the microfilms, as do several other places. ---Sue Stine On Thu, 29 Apr 1999 18:29:15 -0400 "June Jacobs Jordan" <jordanaj@gte.net> writes: >Hello all, > >Can anyone in Logan County tell me anything about John Jacobs, Sr. who >was >in Monroe Twp. in 1830? > >Also, does anyone know about the following article that was in the >Bellefontaine Gazette - Feb. 18, 1837? >". . .
