    2. MRS NANCY S GUENTHER
    3. Cheryl - I noticed your note on the Logan Co OH list. Have you run across any Stephensons moving fr VA to OH (perhaps thru PA or KY, etc)? My fifteen yr search has been for the birthplace on my Joseph Stephenson, b 1810/11 in VA (according to 1850 & 1860 Census). He married Delilah Frey in Logan Co OH in 1833 and after 10 children, moved on to northern IN. I've been back to Logan Co but I've never learned where in VA he came from nor the names of any parens or sibs. Thanks for sharing, Nancy Stephenson Guenther in So Calif

He was born a Quaker in Tennessee, the son of Jesse and Hannah (Thornburgh) Baldwin, and was disowned for fighting in the War of 1812. By the 1840 census, he had moved to nearby Hardin co., OH. I'm not positive who the William Baldwin of the 1820 census was. The men of that name in the area are hard to keep track of sometimes. However, Daniel did have an older brother named William whose later history is largely unknown. This William, born prior to 1786, was disowned by the Miami Monthly Meeting for marriage contrary to discipline in 1807. After that, his history is uncertain, and I don't know if he was the man in Logan county in 1820. It was said that he moved to Mississippi, and then later to Indiana. His wife was apparently the Anna Crews who married a William Baldwin in Highland co., OH on 17 Apr 1806. Could this be yours? (Check out "The Baldwins from Virginia Westward" by Frank C. Baldwin (Oak Park, IL, 1985) for more details on related Baldwins, a number of whom lived in the Logan county, OH area.) Stewart Baldwin

I'm searching for a Baldwin family that migrated from Ohio to Indiana 1830-1831. The mother may have been Sarah. Children are: John (abt 1824); William (abt 1830), Two other children (Mary and James) were born in Indiana. This William Baldwin in the census may be this family. Any information on these Baldwins or others from this area prior to 1831 would be greatly appreciated. Grant Baldwin 365 Silk Oak Drive Suisun City, CA 94585

    2. Richard Ross
    3. Can anyone tell me if there was a statewide census taken in 1851 for Ohio? Or was it a Tax Census? The microfiche at the LDS Libraries have my Elizabeth ROSS and A. H. ROSS listed in McArthur Twp, Logan County in 1851 and I need to know what happened in Ohio to produce this.
