According to a poem entitled "West Mansfield 1884" that is in the book Logan County 1982, there was a CARSON who owned a drugstore in West Mansfield. Does anyone know who this Carson was? Also, I found my ancestors Henry and Mary CARSON in Quaker Cemetery, Perry Twp. Does this indicate that they were Quakers? Thanks for any help. Jeanne
Amos J. LEE(1828-1913) m. Amanda B. MILLER(1833-1916); they resided in Logan County from ca 1857 until they died; they are buried in Plum Cemetery. Issue: Albert F. LEE, Elza Loren LEE-both resided in Logan County, and George LEE, who resided in Pryor, OK in 1913. Mary Jane MILLER (1826-1911) m. John G. DUCKWORTH (1817-1873)and were residing near the Lee's in the early 1870's. They, too, are buried in Plum Cemetery. I believe, but have not proven, that Amanda B. and Mary Jane were sisters. Amanda and her spouse, Amos, are my gggrandparents, and also my current brick wall. I am hoping someone can make a connection and perhaps provide some clues as to the ancestors of Amanda and/or Amos. Thankyou Don phred1@webtv.net

Noreen, Please, visit the Logan County Genealogical Society library. They are open from 2:00-5:00 P.M. on Sundays and 12:30-4:00 P.M. on Fridays (winter hours). They are housed in the Logan County Historical Society building on East Columbus Avenue. Their email address is <logan.county.ogs@logan.net> They have a wealth of information. Believe me, I know. I live in Logan County and my husband and I have researched his family there and have found much information on them. Everyone who volunteers there is very helpful. My great-great-great-grandfather, his (2nd or 3rd?) wife and other family were supposedly in West Liberty from about 1832-1837. They came from Sussex County DE, and left Logan County for Marion Co (Indianapolis) IN. Their names were John and Mahala HUFFINGTON. I doubt that there were any marriages, births, or deaths in Logan County -- at least I have no dates that suggest same. They may have been accompanied on the trip by BLIZZARD/BLIZARD family members (at least the 2 families were together before and after the trip west). Ring any bells with anyone? If you are searching for background data on yourr early OH ancestor, you might want to obtain a booklet titled: "Ohio Lands, a Short History" published by the Ohio Auditor of State, 1994. This was a FREE distribution & you need to contact OH State Auditor office. It explains (with maps) exactly what areas of OH were divided in VA Military lands, Symmes Purchase, etc. Sometimes a river divided the settlement lands & if your ancestor went to the E side, they probably came from "X", while a W side settler probably came from "Y". These divisions went right thru what are now counties & even townships in OH. Critical research tool ! Susan
