Is anyone familiar with the Kingscreek Baptist Church. I think that several of my Logan County ancestors were members of the Baptist Church and this was one of the earliest churches in the area. Does anyone know if any records exist for it? thamks, Susan Orlie

Hello all... The following is another Logan County family. It's a long one, starting with Margaret WILKIN, who married John DAY. Many of their descendents lived around Rushsylvania in Logan County. Check and see for any connection. This list starts with generations "3" from the original WILKIN ancestor. I apologize that the surnames are no capitalized. Some of the family names here are DAY, SHAW, JASINSKY, KAUTZMAN, MITCHELL, GRABIEL, WRIGHT, WALLACE, and QUAY. I may have one major blunder. I'm not sure if Effie J. Grabiel, b 1863, who married Lincoln Kautzman, also married Gideon Jasinsky after Lincoln Kautzman died in a railroad accident. -------------------------------------------------------- DESCENDENTS OF MARGARET WILKIN AND JOHN DAY ..........3 Margaret Wilkin b: Abt 1805 in Pennsylvania d: in Logan County, OH ................+John Day b: Abt 1802 in Pennsylvania d: in Logan County, OH ................4 George Orr Day b May 4, 1829 in Licking County, OH. d 1913. buried in Rushsylvania Cem., Logan Co., OH. I am researching my greatgrandfather, his parents and grandparents. Elisha BIRD (b 1790 Southampton VA) came to Logan County OH in the 1830s with his family, wife Sarah and children along with several other families of free colored (Newsom, Stewart, Wade). Elisha was the grandfather of my great- grandfather Abner Bird who was born in Logan County in 1843. Many of the families moved on to Cass Co Michigan in the late 1840s and 1850s. I am looking for anyone else researching families of free colored or free "other" people who lived in Logan Co., especially anyone researching BIRD or BYRD surname during that time. Does anyone know how I can find the name of Elisha's son who was the father of Abner?

Hello all... I tried to send this to the list a couple days ago and received a response that it was coming up blank on people's screens. I am sending it again this morning. If you did get it the first time I apologize for the resend. The following is the first two generation of a clan which settled in Logan County in about the 1830's. I'm starting with the head of the clan, John POLLOCK and wife, Betsy WILKIN, and have listed here their children and their spouses. I hope to add further generations/families as time goes by. A lot of the info came from the fine folks at the Logan County Genealogical Society, notably Edith Eads. If you see a possible connection and/or want more info on any particular person let me know. Part of a Biographical Sketch History of Logan Co., Oh. 1880 p. 658 (page 657 is missing. THOMAS FAMILY. ----QUAKER PREACHER, who was contemporaneous with William PENN, and others of his time. W.L. THOMAS is the fifth child of Issac and Hannah (STARR) THOMAS who were born in Adams Co., Pa. April 02, 1784, and July 02, 1790 respectively. Of the family of ten children born, nine came to maturity. In 1824, the family moved to Warren Co., Ohio. Early in life we find Webb engaged in a woolen factory, where he labored about ten years. He then learned the wagon-making trade, which he followed six years. On Oct. 24, 1844 he was married to Mary Vail, who was born in Butler Co., Pa., Dec. 16, 1825. She was a daughter of Aaron and Eleanor (SIDDONS) VAIL. The VAILS hail from the State of New Jersey . The SIDDONS are from the Empire State. Issac THOMAS died in in 1833; his wife died in Madison Co., Indiana., Mar. 04, 1867. In 1851, Mr. THOMAS left Warren Co., and removed to Lee Co., Iowa. and after one year residence came to Logan Co., Oh., and purchased 117 acres of land in Perry twnsp., where he now resides, one mile and a half Northeast from East Liberty. The land was formerly owned by Henry ELSE. He has since his purchase erected all the buildings that now grace and adorn the premises. He has three children Albert D., born Sept. 28, 1845, Edwin A., born Sept. 23, 1850; Rolla F., born Aug. 27, 1858. Mr. THOMAS has merited the success of his efforts in a business way. Beginning poor, he has attained a good home and a reasonable competence for his declining years.
Hi I hope someone will be able to clear up a mystery for me. I have a James William Julien, dob abt 1810 married to Martha Knott, dob abt 1807. They were both born in Ohio. I am seeking their parents. I believe, but have no absolute proof that James was the son of Eli Julien, grandson of Peter Julien Jr., ggrandson of Peter Julien Sr. and gggrandson of Rene de St Julien. The census records indicate that Eli had a son of the same age, but there were no names. I have nothing about Martha. Any help would be appreciated. Next mystery is Erastus E. Johnson. Erastus was married to Phoebe Sills dob 1838 in Champaign Co. Ohio on 9-8-1855. I have some Sills information, but would appreciate more. I don't have any information about Erastus. Amanda Jane Johnson dau. of Erastus and Phoebe, married David Wilson Julian, son of James and Martha Julien. They were married in Wells Co. Indiana and raised a family there. Sarah Sills, sister of Phoebe, married Calvin Carney. Their son Alonzo married Ida Mae Foreman daughter of Leonard Foreman and Julia Anne Bowen. Another son William married Loretta Julian (relationship unknown). This was in Wells Co., Indiana. One of my sources indicates that a Sarah Carney married Charles Julien, son of James and Martha, but that isn't the wife I have for Charles. I do have a Sarah listed as the wife of Alexander Julien, brother to Charles and David. I would love to clear up that mystery and find out who the parents of Sarah were. Julia Anne Bowen wife of Leonard had a brother named Andrew and a sister, name unknown. There is another possible brother named Henry. Wells Co. Indiana. Joseph Henry Foreman, son of Leonard and Julia Anne, married Nancy Elizabeth Foust. Their daughter Elvira Mae married Dorse Julian, son of David and Amanda Julian. Nancy had a brother named Abe. Wells Co. Indiana. I hope someone can clear up my mysteries. Jenny Lee Tolbert bisque@juno.com seminole46@juno.com

We are directly related to the Qua family of Rushsylvania. Mattie Barbara Qua(e)(y) married Samuel J Steele about 1881. Her parents were James Qua, b1811 Ireland, and Barbara ? b. 1812, from Pennsylvania. They lived in Rushcreek Township and had 8 children. James, Alexander, and Frances Qua come over from Ireland with Jane Edgar. I believe William Qua and Mary Edgar were their parents. Any information on James would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking for Samuel Steele's family- have no information on him. Thanks.... Kathy Cuthbert, Indianapolis IN

My Baldwin family descends from the Quaker Baldwin family of Guilford co., NC, of whom Jesse Baldwin (md. Hannah Thornbrough) spent the last years of his lide in Logan county, and had at least some descendants living there for the next few generations. I descend from Jesse's son Daniel Baldwin (md. Hannah Williams), who moved to Hardin co., OH. Is this the same Baldwin family as yours? Stewart Baldwin
Logan researchers, I should add a little to my previous query... I have apage from the Bellefontaine Examiner dated 4/12/1889. It has some local events listed by town... towns mentioned are New Jerusalem, Union Chapel, Huntsville and Zanesfield. The events mentioned are births, deaths etc. I received this information from LCGS, after requesting some research on some of my family names. I have received a response that Union Chapel was in Champaign county near the Logan border. This fits with my family as they were in the area of Monroe Twp. I am hoping that I may find additional information on my ancestor in Champaign county, as it appears she died there. The ancestor I am researching is Ruth Hiatt Williams d. 4/4/1889 and buried in Mac-o-chee cemtery. Other names I'm interested in are WILLIAMS HIATT WILLITS STEWARD.
