New Senate bill would boost Ohio history Tax Check-Off Proposal Would Support Ohio History Take Action! Senate Bill 336 would help create a competitive matching grants program Sen. Mark Wagoner (R-Ottawa Hills) introduced Senate Bill 336 on May 12. This legislation would create a new tax check-off on Ohio individual income tax forms, whereby people could voluntarily donate a portion of their tax refund to the Ohio Historical Society. The Ohio Historical Society has testified in committee hearings that it would use the revenue - estimated at roughly $500,000 annually - to create a new competitive matching grants program for local history-related organizations. Sen. Wagoner's Senate Bill 336 is a companion bill to House Bill 16, introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives last year by State Rep. Kathleen Chandler (D-Kent). To view SB 336, click here.
