Hi Licking Co Researchers, My journey in tracing my g - gg - and ggg-grandfather has taken me from VA thru WV, KY and now OH and possibly on to IN. I hope someone can help me. In a listing for the 1840 census for Licking Co., Newark TWP there is listed a Henry Riffey and a Andrew Riffey. What I don't have is: are they listed as being in the same household or as neighbors, and, if neighbors, who was in each household along with ages, etc. If anyone has a copy of this census that can fill in the info for me or even if you just have some general info about either one of these men I would greatly appreciate it. It is possible that Henry Riffey may be the father of Andrew, and this Andrew Riffey could be the father of my g-grandfather. Andrew was born in VA. and Henry was also from VA. In the VA census for 1820 Henry shows up as Henry Rife with 3 male children under the age of 10. All three having been born between 1810 and 1820. There are no names mentioned but Andrew was born in VA in 1818. Henry then moved from VA thru WV, KY and then on to OH before Andrew grew to manhood. In OH, Andrew married a Margaret, last name unknown, and later they moved, after having a child, my g-grandfather, to IN in the Co of Carroll. My g-grandfather then moved back to VA at the start of the Civil War. He was a member of Co. B, 11th VA Cavalry and settled in Hardy Co, WV after the War. I don't know what happened to Henry after 1840, but I do know that Andrew eventually moved with his family to Carroll Co. in IN. He shows up there in the census for 1850. I'm checking that lead as well. I know that this is alot to say and ask, and I do apologize for taking up so much time, but I'm up against a brick wall in trying to put together all of the pieces. Is there anyone out there that can help me? Glenn mailto:gc1@mindspring.com
