In a previous query, I asked who his parents might be and I think Brad responded that they were John Langdon Atwood and Marietta Spelman. I have been looking at the 1850 Fed census for Licking County and have found two George Atwoods. The listings are as follows: Harrison Twnship, Licking County, 25th Sep 1850 1526 1546 Atwood, Zephaniah 49 m Farmer 6000 NY Catherine 44 f Ohio Preston, Warren 6 m Ohio 1528 1548 Atwood, Elizabeth 39 f 5000 Ohio George 18 m Farmer Ohio Samuel 15 m Farmer Ohio William 14 m Ohio Almira 10 f Ohio 1567 1588 Wilcox, Mary 49 f 1400 Ohio Atwood , George 19 m Farmer Ohio Atwood, Thomas Y 17 m Ohio Atwood, Rachel 14 f Ohio Wilcox, William H 9 m Ohio Benjamin G 7 m Ohio I found where John Langdon Atwood died in 1834 and Marietta must have remarried as she died in Kearney, Nebraska. Does anyone know the story behind these Atwoods and can you tell me which one of these George's is the son of John Langdon Atwood and Marietta Spelman. In my George's obit, a sister named Abby Wilcox is listed as still living. Maybe he and the other children are living with a great aunt??? Any help or speculation will be appreciated.
