Thank you for the reply The # 407 David Bowman (1813-1894) was a brother to my ggfather Samuel Bowman(1808-1877). I have been told #503 John Bowman (1807-1877) was also their brother, but have never tried to prove this. Their parents were James Robert Bowman(1778-1866) and Ann (Graves) Bowman (1778-1867). The # 509 Samuel Bowman, (1821-1855) was married to Lydia (Gordan) Bowman, and they had a son, David Austin Bowman (1845-1917). After Samuel's death in 1855, she married Reuben Leach. According to a published Bowman Family History in my possession (The Bowman's--Sep 21, 1934--#16252 from the Genealogical Society of Utah), his father was George Bowman, b. 1779, Perry Co., Oh. I don't know if he is related to the above Bowman family. I also know of other Samuel Bowmans, but none with a father named Joseph. As you stated--many of the settlers of the Praire and Licking Townships of Crawford Co. Il. came from the Shenendoah Valley via the Licking Co. Oh. area, then to Ill., and appeared to migrate together, and I feel this to be the area to search for their ancestors. Again, Thank You Jim
