Just an update for all those people who helped me with the location of Croton. I found it, Thanks very much. I also located Thomas George Chidester on the 1900 Census. He was in Hartford Village, which seems to be Croton with the name changed. I tried the 1880 census but the index for C320 to C350 is messed up and it appears that much of it is missing. I looked in Hartford Village but he was not there. I didn't have the time to start through the rest of the names. If anyone has a half way decent 1880 Ohio census index, I would like to know if he shows up. I did find some interesting stuff on a Licking County web page. A listing of births showed George Thomas' son Herbert Edward and a listing for that son's daughter, Bertha Ellen Chidester. It even had her married name, Marriott, so she must have put the information in the county records at some later time. (I found a Herbert Marriott living in Thornville and sent him a letter. I will be interested to see if he responds.)
