In keeping with the request of Linda Montanaro, list owner, that the Licking County Genealogical Society's Computer Interest Group post the topics of discussion at their monthly meetings, the items of discussion are listed below. The Computer Interest Group of the Licking County Genealogical Society met on a very hot Sunday afternoon in Central Ohio on July 18th at 2:00 p.m. in the air-conditioned LCGS Library with 11 attendees. Computer Chairperson, Ron Trager led the roundtable discussion. Topics of Discussion 1. Ron noted that the LCGS Web Site has a new address at http://newark.lib.oh.us/pub_lcgs_web/index.html 2. One of the members had inadvertently lost the History, Mail, etc. buttons on their Microsoft Internet Explorer. These buttons can be toggled on or off by going to the "View" menu, selecting "Toolbars", and clicking on "Standard Buttons". 3. A brief discussion of electrical interference between a members computer and a wireless doorbell was held. 4. Another members was having a problem with multiple copy printing on two printers. Since she didn't have internet access to go to the printer manufacturer's web site, it was suggested that she call the technical support number. Quite often problems can be solved by visiting the manufacturer's web site which may contain patches to fix problems, newer drivers, a frequently asked questions (FAQ) area or an e-mail link to technical support. 5. Local Internet Providers was also discussed for those looking for internet access. 6. A member reported on bugs in Windows98 second edition. 7. A member noted that the National Parks Service has a web site listing books available at the Eastern National Bookstore at http://www.nps.gov/cowp/eastern2.htm 8. As a sidelight to the discussion on the National Parks Service, other discussions about Civil War burials in Shenandoah County, VA and the fact that Andersonville, GA has a card file of prisoners at that Confederate Prison site. Also discussed was Courthouse research and how the rules and access to the records can vary from one county to another. 10. Computer Chair and LCGS President, Ron Trager, noted that the inventory was near completion for the future move into the new Newark Public Library when it is completed. 11. Ron also announced the upcoming meeting of the Licking County Computer Society with a \ presentation on Lexmark Printers. Other past programs of LCCS was discussed.
