Some of the Licking County families moved from there to McLean County, Illinois (my NEIGHBARGER family did). My gg-grandfather SPAWR may also have gone from McLean Co. to Licking Co. in the 1850s and married my gg-grandmother before her whole family moved to McLean. I know that at least one person on the McLean County e-mail list is researching MOATS. You could search the McLean Co. list archives to find whomever it is. There is a Web site at http://members.aol.com/rehfla/elihalsey/mclean1840.htm that has an index to the 1840 McLean County census. There are two MOATS heads of households in it (Jacob and Henry).
