My G-grandfather, Milton Whitney, stated on his Civil War pension application that he was born in Licking Co. about 1818. An old letter states that his mother died at childbirth. His father shortly after left him in the care of a Spencer family (perhaps Gen. John Spencer of Licking Co.) General John had a daughter that married a William Seymour of the same county. Milton named his first son Seymour and William Seymour traveled from Licking Co. to Morrow Co. at Milton's death to take care of some estate business.
