    3. I'm grasping at straws here, but I'm at a point where I will try anything. My ggggrandfather Edmon/Edward HOUSDEN was born in Shenandoah (now Page County, Virginia) in 1790. He is mentioned in his father's will in 1800. AND THEN HE DISAPPEARS! I pick him up again in 1830 in Delaware County, Indiana (now Grant County) and can chase him foreward to me without problem. I have recently found some information that makes me think that he may have gone to Ohio at sometime during his 30 years of hiding. As I have looked at two of his other children in Indiana I find that they have spouses who were all born in Ohio. In fact in the 1880 census one of the children says that her mother (Cassandra, wife of Edward) was born in Ohio. In the 1870 Grant County, Indiana Census I find surnames (Jenkins and Judy) that are related to my Housden family in Virginia. These Jenkins and Judy's are all born in Ohio. A distant cousin who is the president of the Page County, Virginia historical society and is pretty knowledgable about the long ago going ons of the county contends that a large number of Page County residents migrated to Clark and Champaign counties Ohio fairly early in the 1800's. The folks in Clark and Champaign Counties also think there was a migration to Licking County. All of that said does anyone on the list recognize any of these surnames: HOUSDEN, JUDY, JENKINS, PETEFISH, ALGER, DOVAL, CUBBAGE, KITE, GRIFFITH, LUCAS, NAUMAN, PAINTER, PENCE, SHORT, GEORGE, SEEKFORD, STRICKLER. Not all of these names are directly related to me but they are Shenandoah/ Page County Virginia names that may have migrated into Licking, Clark and Champaign Counties. I'm more than happy to share the rather copious information that I have on the Housdens. Vicky Drake dvicky@primenet.com
