There was an important stage coach stop, inn and tavern at Brownsville in the 1800's. A hotel, I suppose on the site of the original stagecoach stop was owned and operated by Homer and Ruth Orr. Ruth's sister, Nella and her husband Lawrence Zwayer, lived at their grocery store across Route 40. Question - when did the last stagecoach stop at the inn? An estimate or guess would be helpful. When was the National Pike first paved - that is when was the dirt road made into an all weather road? All comments appreciated. Congratulations to Licking County OGS and others for creating an interesting Licking County presence on the net. It is what I would have expected from that hard working bunch. Regards Hal
