Santschi William A. Santschi, 76, retired city employe, died at 11 p.m. Monday in his home, 58 Day Ave. In failing health for some time, his condition had been serious several days. A former deputy in the sheriff's office under E. A. Bryan, a former sheriff of Licking County, he later was associated with the Public Service Department of the city as a clerk and at the time of his retirement he was cashier of the City Water Works Department. Born July 18, 1877, in Goshen, Ind., the son of John and Anna (Aitken) Santschi, he came to Newark in 1909, and was employed as conductor on the old Ohio Electric Line between Zanesville and Columbus. A member of the First Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge of Newark and the United Commercial Travelers. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Leila Santschi. He was the last of his immediate family, three sisters and a brother having preceded him in death. The body is at the Gutliph & Henderson Funeral Home, where the Rev. Dr. J.B. Rosemurgy will conduct services at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery. *Note - I have no other info regarding this family
